Has the weather improved in your neck of the woods?

About 10 days ago, it seemed that everyone, even in Europe, was experiencing a heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees F (about 39 C, I think). It was certainly the case here in Northern California. Te good thing for me was that it drove me to the pool, and made me remember how much I enjoy swimming. It's relaxing, it's good for my lower back pain, and it allows me to work on my incredibly sexy savage tan. Happily, things have cooled off over the past week. Our lows have been in the sleepable upper 50s, and our highs have been in the manageable lower 80s. I've been able to play softball this weekend without being drenched in sweat. How is the weather where you are? Have things cooled down a bit? My only complaint: I wish we could get some rain ahead of the October fire season.

Here in the Caribbean I can't feel comfortable about the weather until the threat of a hurricane is over for this year. Which won't be until November.

Interesting. Is the weather still warm in November and December? I assume so.

That's pretty concerning. Much more serious than heat or rain.

@TheHorse We are in closer proximity to North America than the other islands - so, in December we get what the residents call "Christmas breeze". I recall one December/January when I was forced to sleep with socks, added sleepwear and a coverlet.

So far no rain and the sun is out but that usually changes around 2 pm, a couple hours from now since I am in the central time zone. Our days recently have been around 90 and then raining and down to 70`s and staying through the night. As for my sexy summer tan...... non existent. I am pale as a corpse because of all this rain!

@TheHorse Last year it was a severe drought here over 100 day without rain and that is far from normal. This year is the opposite, rain almost everyday and that is far from normal.

It was really hot here in June. It's not usually as hot as parts of AZ but it gets close plus it was dry with humidity factors below 10%, that makes the heat easier to handle. July and now August have been totally strange, there've only been a few days that it got to 100 or 101 plus the humidity has been over 30% many times, that's what drives me nuts. It would have been so nice in July if the humidity had been lower. I'm not used to humidity that high.

100 F = to 37.7 Celsius, you were close enough. We also went from 100 F to 52 F in two days. Now it's sunny and not at all hot, I like this weather more.

Funny that your weather in Switzerland is paralleling our weather in Northern California. From unseasonably hot to moderate and pleasant Do you even get rain in the Summer? I wish we did.

@TheHorse We got rain for three days in a row, a lot of rain and unfortunately also hail. I think I got a summer cold, I am sneezing since this morning and I have a runny nose.

Hi Horse! Long time no see! (my absence) It was super hot here for about a week, but now it is lovely rainy weather, and has cooled down. I will not say "lovely" about rain once school starts, because kids need their recess. But for now, I'm enjoying it.

We still have temps in the 80s and there are days when the humidity gets up, but aside from that I'd say it's starting to cool off. Plus, we've been having some rain here lately to help cool off.

Here in Australia we have the opposite season of course. It's still winter here but today was 18C and it was the first time I was able to go out wearing shorts, tshirt and flip flops for several months. I was getting a little cool by the time I got home from walking to the shops though. Every year, I get a childlike delight out of those first few days when I get to shed the winter woolies and go out with my skin uncovered. Woohoo... Spring is on the way!
• Australia
15 Aug 17
@TheHorse It has to be at least 16C/61F for me to shed the winter woolies. Though I'll admit, as a middle aged lady I feel the cold less than I used to.

Here in California, our Winters aren't very Wintry (except up in the mountains). I make it my goal to wear shorts at least a couple of times every month here.
