Spooky lights in the sky

We have seen a lot of wind farms while we’ve been travelling in France and also vast numbers of solar panels. Sometimes the huge barns they have here are covered in panels. Two years ago a friend in Bavaria told us there were generous government grants given to those who installed solar panels. I liked the lights that were on these turbines. I should think they’d need lights on the end of the blades although I didn’t see any. I thought it made them look very spooky.

We have a few wind farms here in Colorado. I've never seen any of them up close.

They make a whirring noise which some people find irritating. And they're huge.

They are to be found all over South Africa at the moment. A great save to electricity

There were a lot of Germany too - and thousands of solar panels. They were everywhere.

They seem a good alternative to coal-fired power and certainly to nuclear power.

@judyev I find them quite creepy in an empty landscape.

They are so silent too really and even the small amount of noise they do make is a bit unearthly.

There are also many wind farms in Germany. They are good to have on principle but I've read about people thinking of selling their houses nearby. The constant whirring and change between light and shadow from the huge blades drive the people crazy. But who'd like to buy a house there?

I don't think I'd like living next to one although I think the principle is good too.
