Sheep in a roundabout

It must be time for another roundabout photo. We were heading towards Poitiers when we spotted this one. Being a bit of a sucker when it comes to sheep, I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. There were at least three, maybe four, sheep round the little cabin. Whoever was responsible for the creation of this display had even managed to make their faces dark. I think I might take up topiary!

That's an original roundabout scene. Very nice. Topiary - new word for me. I looked it up. I wonder if all native speakers of English know it.

I knew the word topiary, because it comes from Lati topiarius meaning "ornamental garden" topos is from ancient Greek topos = place.

@LadyDuck I know the term 'topos' as it is used in the discussion of literature. But I didn't make the connection between a literary term and a bush cut in the shape of a sheep.

@MALUSE Topiary is quite a common word over here.

Even if it is very nice, I have to say that I do not think it is a good idea to place on a roundabout big decorations that cover the view of the road facing you.

Although I like the display, I must say that yours is a valid argument.

@MALUSE The purpose of a roundabout is to see every car so to know who have to go first. Here you see nothing.

That is a valid point but remember I have the camera pointing at the centre of the roundabout so you're not seeing what the driver is seeing.

I wonder how hard it is to see other cars in the roundabout.

As Anna suggested, it's a valid point but most of the roundabouts are quite large and there is plenty of opportunity to see what is coming. It's only the passenger in an RH drive car on a LH drive roundabout that has much opportunity to see what is in the middle.

So, did you take up topiary? It seems like very hard work to me.

No, I didn't. I think it would be hard work. I like this one. It's at a tiny shop not too far from us.

I'm not sure what the flowers are - or what has been used for the 'fleece' of the sheep.

Our house-sitter had to get the vet to Herc as he had an abcess in his hoof. He is on the mend now thank goodness.
