I haven't showered since Friday! What's the longest you go without showering?

The only time this usually happens is when I got to Montana to spend time at the cabin. I kind of enjoy being stinky, as it celebrates the fact that I'm working on some project, rebuilding my bridge across the creek or mending our fence. But this time, it was due to softball. I was in two tournaments, and knew I'd be getting all sweaty anyway. But I'm kind of cheating here. After Saturday softball, I took a swim in the pool before our evening music gig. And after Sunday softball, I took a swim before heading out to a post-season party at a teammate's house. So I actually smell like a Spring rose right now as I sip my second cup of coffee. But I'll shower anyway before heading into work. What's the longest you go without showering or bathing?

I'm off to work, so I'm going to hit the shower now. Probably nobody would notice if I didn't, though.

Probably around 5 days when we were homeless, but the good thing was, at least we were by the beach, but salt water dries out the skin so much, not good. I smelled like seaweed. Today I shower everyday, maybe even twice a day.

Near the beach sounds like a decent place to be homeless, though. I used to swim in the ocean when I lived in Santa Barbara.

@TiarasOceanView I enjoyed the feeling of being all salt and crunchy. But I had the option of showering it off when I got home.

I think the longest I have gone is four days. That is when I was on a camping trip. I did get into the river and so I think I was fine.

Yeah, I feel "cleansed" when I go swimming, whether it be in a pool, a river/lake, or the ocean.

@TheHorse We lived in a tent for 3 months, in Virginia during the winter. It was awful, much different feeling than camping for fun thats for sure.

When I go camping I generally don't shower, even if showers are available. For how long were you in a tent?

Let's see.......August 6th. I'm afraid if I take a shower and step on the scale, I'll find I've lost more weight. It's bad enough I could lose weight by sloughing off skin cells @TheHorse . Just kidding. But as kids, because we lived in the toolies, we had baths once per week in an outdoor tub of water. With 6 kids, it was 2 kids per tub of water.

@TheHorse Nope because as the oldest, I was the one to haul the water from the well to the stove to be heated; carried it out to the tub; then had to dump the tub after the first 2 kids and then start all over again. It was the worst during winter time in Iowa. Trust me, you were in and out of that tub pretty quick. It's amazing none of us ever got pneumonia.

I would love to swim in the pool and it has been a very long time since i've done that. It is quite relaxing to go with swimming on the beach also. But anyways the longest time i have not taken a bath is about one day. Nothing more than that because of the hot weather here i could not endure not taking a bath. The reason because i was too busy and got too tired already when i have the time to take a bath. So what i did was i just lay myself on the bed and sleep throughout the night and the early morning i took a shower immediately. And it was such a relief to finally had a shower and get rid of the smell and dirt off my body. I try my best to take my shower everyday even if i was tired there were times i can not anymore have the strength to have a shower when i'm already so tired.

I'm too pooped to hop in the shower in the evenings. I use it to get me "fired up" in the mornings.

Got it. I think I've done the same. If I have a minor cold, but am still going to work, then I shower.

Is that your bridge in the picture? We need a bridge over our mini wetlands (swamp). Pallets just rot too fast!

Yep, I built that from scratch. Didn't even use a chain saw. It's made from smaller Doug fir that were over-crowded. Hoping to oil up my old hand saw in a week. I imagine some cross-pieces need replacement.

I went 6 days when Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf, we went down to help and there was no water at one place, we moved up the beach to P.C. Florida and I got to bathe there. I felt so filthy! Now I bathe daily, if I do skip its only one day but I still take a "ho" bath with a wash cloth and soap, then change clothes and underwear. Even camping I will wash off and change clothes.

Up in Montana I sometimes give myself a "sponge bath" in the (chilly) creek at the spring.

I work in a kitchen...it is hot Even after the first few hours in a split shift I shower as I feel sticky and greasy If I have 2 days off in a row I may skip a shower the first day but that's about it. I generally shower once or twice a day and some days 3 times.

I probably would if I worked in a kitchen too. Do you catch kitchen smells on you at random times during the day? Sometimes I catch poopy, peanut buttery kid smells on me if I've been working at my friend's preschool.

@TheHorse smell is a weird thing. My first job 24 years ago was in a kitchen of a very well known hotel. After being off for a couple of days I come back and the smell takes me back to when I was a kid!!...I don't notice it on a daily basis just after a bit of time off. I have 7 pairs of work trousers and 30 t-shirts...the smell doesn't attach to me as I do change clothes pretty much every day and sometimes twice per day. Totally off topic but I find smells and music to be like a time machine...I smell a certain thing and immediately I'm back 20 years...same with certain songs

I might skip a day. I do not like it as I feel the sweat on my back, etc. If I get to swim and rinse off it is okay.

Oh, probably a couple days - especially when I had a newborn and was just exhausted out of my mind (better to sleep than shower ). I can probably stand it if I had to go longer . . . but after a while I'm sure I'd get that itchy feeling.

Because of sickness/depression, probably a few days. Less than a week still, if I have to go out, having a shower is the very least.

I'm trying to remember if I shower when I'm sick. If I'm mildly depressed, I do. If I had a clinical depressive episode, I probably would not.
