Watching Romance Movies

Now if you have read any of my posts closely, you'll know I hate romance. The movies and books are so ready to make a person, like me, anyways, gag. Yet, I've been finding myself watching them and even liking them, at least all but the one I watched today. Hope Floats. I don't recommend that one at all. I should have turned it off in the first few minutes. However, I do have a book I'm trying to write, also romance - trying to do something out of my comfort zone. Maybe, but doubtful so far, it will help get some ideas flowing to help me get this book finished that I've lovingly dubbed my problem child. It's title is Loves Illusion. For whatever reason I'm watching these really pathetic movies, I am. They're not all bad. Still corny and you know she's going to get the guy in the end. I suppose there's a cookie cutter recipe for movies like there is for books. So that's what I've been doing with my extra time when I'm not here and not writing. What do you do with your extra time? Thanks for reading.

Have you seen While You Were Sleeping? That's a great Sandra Bullock movie, and much better than Hope Floats.

@just4him Yes, that's the one. How about Enchanted with Amy Adams? It's "different". Or Lars and the Real Girl? I liked Lars and the Real Girl, but it isn't really a comedy even though it has comedy in it. It touched my heart, but on the other hand my sister didn't like it.

That one sounds familiar. Is that the one where she rescues a guy and the family thinks she's his girlfriend/fiancee while he's in a coma in the hospital? If that's the one, I saw it a year ago. It's okay, and yes, better than Hope Floats.

I like some romantic movies but not many I watched the Quiet man a few days ago. An old movie will John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. I've always liked that movie. I don't know if you would call it a romantic movie. Hope you get lots of information for your book

I don't like love stories either. I remember reading True Story when I was a teenager. Well I am passed that. I knit or crochet in my spare time. I don't seem to have much of that anymore though.

I go swimming in the morning during the week days and for two walks a day. We were so busy we only did one garage sale this summer.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the pool. Walking is still down the road for me. I need to get this weight off before I can even think about walking any distance. One garage sale isn't many for you. You must have been busy.

@averygirl72 I'm playing two games - one online - a Plarium game called Vikings: War of the Clans. It's interactive and I enjoy the clan I'm part of. Then I play Bejeweled Blitz on FB. I also play Mahjong on the computer - it's neither online or on FB.

I am not a fan of Romance movies, they are all the same. In my extra time, I paint, I bake, I clean the house and do the laundry and finally I take care of the garden.

Some romance novels are like real life , except for the endings where - like you pointed out - she always gets the guy.

Going to a baseball game tomorrow with my leisure time. Otherwise, social with friends, go to the beach, take walks, and play an occasional round of golf.

I like true romance movies, not so much the you can see how it will end romance-like the Hallmark channel shows, you've seen one you've seen them all. I like the unique ones, as most romances are that way.

Unique is good. I don't think I've seen any true romance movies. I know there is one on Netflix about Barak and Michelle Obama in their younger years. I have no intention of watching it.
