Went to work for the second time this week. Thankfully, most of the really chaotic things that happened there today didn't have a whole lot to do with me. This guy walks into the yard and starts talking to kids and tells us that he's one of the children's grandfather (the child was looking at this man as if to say, "what are you doing here?"). Then pulls out his phone and starts taking photos. I was about to ask for the guy's ID, as I had certainly no idea who he was. Then, thankfully, the regular teacher came out and talked to him, (later she told me that the guy was the child's grandmother's ex-husband. He says he knows such and such child, so after talking with the regular teacher he goes inside the school. Minutes later, the director comes out and asks: "Who is that guy in there interrupting circle time and taking pictures of kids?" So the regular teacher talked to her, and they said something about talking to the mother or whoever about that being prevented from happening again. The guy sort of gave me the creeps. At naptime I went downstairs from the toddler room to the preschool room to relieve teachers who needed to take their lunch, and had to deal with the antics of a child who I remember being "interesting" in the toddler room, and now evidently was a trouble making preschooler. The same "trouble making preschooler" made trouble for us after nap when we went out into the yard. When the director's Mom (also the preschool's book keeper) drove me home, I was regaled with stories of difficulties not only with children but with parents of the children. It made me so glad that I am just a substitute, and not qualified, for lack of a better word, to deal with all of the stuff I saw and heard about directly, and also so thankful to the Lord that I made it through the day ! I came home dead tired, and a friend of my mothers and a friend of said friend were there. They stayed at least an hour after I got home, and I was so thankful to the Lord that I did not just collapse right in front of them. Wowsers. Well, on to another day tomorrow...
