I stopped by my sons today and Madison was just finishing up her supper. When she got done her mom cleaned her up with hand wipers. I asked for them and handed one to Madison. I took the other one and started wiping down the table. I told Madison to help me clean the table. She lit right into it. We took her out of her chair and by now she had to rags in her hand. I took her over to the sliding glass door and showed her how to wipe it down. When I left she was busy wiping down the floor. I figured I had caused enough commotion for one day so I left. I will be teaching her a lot more lessons when I can.

Isn't it funny how kids love to help when they are small, but as teenagers most try to get out of it?

Yes it is. There are three older siblings in the house that does their best to get out of helping with things. They are not my sons children by he does his best to teach them.

The child is lucky to be learning at a young age, it would help her learn faster than peers

I do agree. My son just called and said she cleaned the table again tonight. Maybe I started something.

@velvet53 Hahaha she is such a good child, perfecting a task later and not forgetting about it. This surely brought a smile to my face on this boring day. You surely started something good.

Children ape everything their elders do. So it is a good idea to teach them since they are babies.

I agree. I figure the younger they can learn something the better it is for them. It will stick with them longer and better.

@marguicha I am sure some people would think that I am pushing it a little early but I don't think so. I am glad that you feel the same way.

It is good to teach children some home works so they can appreciate it when they grow older.

That is a super idea to do this with your grand child.Keeps her busy and teaches her some of the lifeskills that she will need.

The younger they are the faster they learn, it's good to teach those little things to your granddaughter.

@LadyDuck I agree. I am very happy how my son works with his daughter. He is gentle and loving but he does make her mind. He reads to her every night, dances with her, things like that.

@velvet53 This is a very good thing, too many parents do not spend enough time to teach the right things.

I figure she is old enough to learn. I started teaching my sons and many day care children when they were her age. It never hurts to start young as you well know.

You can't start teaching children too early. Her mom might thank you when granddaughter takes on chores.

How old is she? In any case since she did it she is OK to learn . Children should learn housework so that they are able to adjust when they strike out on their own...I've seen it happening a lot around me.
