Does It Matter To Be A Gentleman Anymore?

Gone are the Age of Chivalry and with it dies the Code of Chivalry and the romantic concept of Knights in a Shining Armor with his undying Love, Loyalty and Devotion to the Lady Love, to the King and to God. In our modern age of gender equality or the equality between man and woman before the law and the idea of feminism it seems that the idea of being a true gentleman is an out moded and an old fashioned concept. For the men, do you still believe in being a true gentleman and in practicising and observing the behavior of a true gentleman towards women? For the women, do you still long to be treated as a lady and expect gentlemanly behavior from the men? Is there any more gentleman out there? Image source: ninavidmarblog.com

I hate feminism, I am a woman and I am more than happy to be different and to have a gentleman who opens the door of the car to let me out. May be the young generations do not care, all the women I know over 40 appreciate gentlemen.

It may be my (advanced) age, but I still open doors for women and have been known to help them lift things in stores or reach for things on high shelves. I think I qualify.

Being a gentleman with woman still works; however, there are some women who do not go with this type of behavior, as it may look silly to some. I try to be a gentleman anyway

I can still appreciate a gentleman. My husband will do sweet things for me, and be gentleman sometimes. And I do appreciate it.

There was an incident that a young woman was shouting of man being because she was not given the seat in the full pack train. Then many are shouting for gender equality. Its hard to understand sometimes what should men do.

'In our modern age of gender equality or the equality between man and woman before the law and the idea of feminism it seems that the idea of being a true gentleman is an out moded and an old fashioned concept. For the men, do you still believe in being a true gentleman and in practicising and observing the behavior of a true gentleman towards women?' I think the answer to this conundrum is quite simple - behave in a gentlemanly fashion toward all people, regardless of gender, age, background. It is hard to dislike genuine politeness, courtesy and respect, whoever is demonstrating it.

In this era of political correctness. behaving like a gentleman can be interpreted as incorrect. A man opening a door for a woman could be accused of subjecting his male dominance in treating a woman as a weakling. Since feminists demand complete equality therefore women can no longer be given special privilege like being first on that lifeboat before men.

@mandala100 I wish there were gentlemen still around. I have not met any that would bring me flowers and hold a door and car door open for me or pull out my chair for me at a restaurant. I can only dream of that.
