Finally Got My Day at the Beach!

United States
August 16, 2017 10:54am CST
Took 3 days off from work. Hubby is still laid-off so he got to go with me. Talked to my sister in Maine and arranged for us to stay with her. We left Sunday afternoon. We visited with my sister and her better half on Sunday night. Visited in the morning and left for the beach. Sis lives in Berwick, Maine. The beach where we went to is a 90 minute drive from there. We arrived before noon and headed straight for a spot close to the ocean's edge. Hubby got my chair and umbrella set up. I slathered the 70 spf sunblock on Little Miss and she and hubby headed for the water. I applied the sunblock to myself and sat in the shade of the umbrella and relaxed. An hour later I ventured to the concession stand for sandwiches and drinks. Hubby sent me a frantic text to get back there soon. Then a call from him saying that "my" granddaughter was screaming and throwing a fit. She started from the moment I left for the concession stand. Funny how she is "his" granddaughter when she is sweet and doing cute things and when she is having a tantrum, she is "mine." Needless to say, our stay at the beach was not as long as I had wished it could have been. We ate our lunch and headed for the truck. Little Miss was covered in sand from head to toe and very uncomfortable. Grumpy is a kind word to describe her mood. Even though it was a short time, it was relaxing. Hope to go back again soon! And now per the request of Little Miss, I have to put the computer down. We are going fishing. Have a great day!

Years ago I spent many days at the beach. Miss those days, but not the one I had to travel with.

@TiarasOceanView he wants to go back to the beach after there is a storm. He loves to watch the big waves come in from way off shore.

Poor baby. She must have wanted to go with you. It sounds like you all had a wonderful time in spite of your little rugrats temporary lapse. Glad you finally got your day at the beach.

I am so much more relaxed now. Imagine if I had stayed a week and was at the beach every day? I love it there. Takes my stress level down several notches.

We need to get little miss down for a nap. Meltdowns happen if she doesn't have a nap. Lol. We will go fishing when she wakes. The beach was divine!

Oh my goodness, I love the request of Little Miss for you to "put the computer down." Sorry you couldn't stay longer at the beach, but good you did relax a bit while there.

When I take that relaxing cleansing breath, I can actually feel it working! The beach is the best therapy for me, even if it is only for a short time.

We are going to leave at 4:30 a.m. the next time we head out. That way she will have her nap and be rested by the time we hit the beach.

@kobesbuddy I hope it does work. She needs her beauty rest to take away the grumpies.

I did wade into the water, but only up to my knees. It was colder than I remembered it to be. LOL.

Glad you finally made it to the beach. The beach is at least a 3 hour drive from here so I haven't been in quite awhile.

I miss the beach! I want to go so badly, but it is just too damn hot right now here in Florida. Even the ocean water is uncomfortably hot. It feels like a bathtub. Yuck! I'll wait until the days start to cool off again, and then plan some beach trips!
