Solicitor Calls Are Getting Stupid

When I am setting her Mylotting I do answer the phone even if it is some obscure number. The reason I do this is to tell solicitors I am not interested so they don't keep calling. I've had them call me on a Sunday which I think is ridiculous. So I answered the phone just now and it was a young man from some life company. Probably life insurance. Right in mid word he was cut off. Can you believe it? They have cheap calling systems. Some times I will get what I think are automatic dialer calls. It automatically calls this number and after a ring or two it hangs up. What is up with that? Happens many times too. I think they finally fixed it. It's just a bunch of irritating BS. These people really don't want to bother a senior citizen who worked in customer service for thirty years. I will make milk toast out of them.

@celticeagle I love having fun with those irritating callers. If I know it's one of them I answer "Hello this is your local STI clinic, how may I help you?"

I don't know if they have you on mute or what, but they never listen to you. One called and said, "how are you?" I said I was terrible and sick as a dog, and they replied, "That's great." I've gotten to the point where I will just let the call go to voice mail if I don't recognize the number (or I'm not expecting a call from someone).

Most of the calls we get are 'computer generated' there is no actual person to scream at, so we just don't bother answering.

I agree, having the caller hang up before you get to have any fun at their expense would be quite irritating to me, too! Hopefully, they get their system back up and running correctly before too long! (I dislike that you are missing out on harassing the telemarketers!)

I kept getting calls from "Duct Cleaning Services" every couple of weeks at my old number, even though I kept telling them I didn't have a furnace. Usually it was the same guy, or at least sounded like the same guy. I thought I'd be free of this annoyance when I moved, but no, I've gotten calls from them here, too. Not quite as often, though.

I just hang up on the caller and than I block them.
