I think we'll fit under this one

You might remember that early in our travels in France in our motor-home we found ourselves facing an arched bridge where the clearance was less than the height of our vehicle. We had to reverse amid all the traffic and eventually we found a new road round. Since that little experience we’ve been doubly careful about clearances under bridges.
A few days ago we found ourselves heading under another bridge and we asked each other ‘Do you think we’ll fit?’ It was nice to know we didn’t have to worry about this bridge. Some of these constructions are magnificent and you can’t help but be humbled and inspired by the artistry and craftsmanship that has gone into these edifices.

Yes, I remember that one you wrote! I think the Queen Mary could fit under that one.

The one I 'sailed' under on my zipline was pretty high too.

I did not read that post about not fitting. But I am in awe with this magnificent picture.

@JudyEv Usually bridges have a great clearance nowadays.

@marguicha They do and some vehicles can be very high. They need a good clearance.

The bridge was likely constructed by hand brick by brick.

I don't blame you for being shy about heading under bridges that have limited clearance. Yes, this one is definitely going to work for your motor home. Did you stop to take this picture and get a closer look?

@JudyEv If possible I take them through the windows in the vehicle. My preference is to pull off to the side of the road. However, traffic, time, and weather conditions often don't allow that to happen.

@ElusiveButterfly It can be hard to stop with the motor-home. There is often nowhere safe to pull over.

Aren't there road signages early on that indicate as to what is the permissible height ahead?
I think some vehicles might be facing such issues in India as well.

@JudyEv Yes sometimes we have to keep a tight watch on the road while driving, so sometimes, we can miss the signages.

Looks like you have plenty of room going under that bridge

Beautiful! I will have to read your post about the other bridge. It seems every week here, there is a truck that gets stuck in one bridge in Edmonton.
Truck driver Trevor Beaudet paced along the sidewalk approaching the High Level Bridge, shaking his head and looking at his big rig pulled over at the side of the road.

You'd think truck-drivers would know the height of their rigs and know what underpasses to avoid. But I guess we all make mistakes.

Amazing how well they've held up considering how old they are.

I get a bit anxious about low bridges now and always look out for signs.

Yes, fitting your motor home under that was no problem! Wonder who or what would not fit @JudyEv
