Just got back from another walk

I walked 20 minutes this morning and another 45 minutes just now. It is nice out there now. It is warm but there is a nice breeze. Nice weather for walking. I may go out for another 20 minute walk this evening if I feel up to it. It feels good to have my energy back. I have been eating healthy and doing lots of walking and I am beginning to see the results. I see the cardiologist next week. I think he will be pleased with how I am doing and the changes I have made. Do you have a regular walking or exercise routine? I do lots of walking now but I will be able to do other exercises once my breastbone heals.

I'm glad that you're able to go for walks. I do enjoy going for walks, when I can. It can be tricky to go for walks, but maybe I'll be able to, when the kids are back at school/daycare.

Yes it is easier walking when you don't have little ones.

@Happy2BeMe That's true. It is. I will sometimes manage to go for walks after they're in bed, but it doesn't happen often. I might try to walk more, once they're at school/daycare.

@dodo19 that would be a good idea. A 20 minute walk is all you really need.

I wish my knees would let me walk further than down the road and back. I keep telling myself that I need to get a knee brace so I can walk further and do more. Having worked for a DME supplier, I have knowledge and training in fitting knee braces so I know which one will work. They can be costly though and I really don't want to spend a small fortune on one. You are making great strides in your recovery Laurel! Your doctor will be quite pleased. Some just sit around after their surgery and it makes their recovery time much longer. Not you though! Keep up the good work lady!

@Happy2BeMe My insurance will pay for them, but first I would have to fork out $50 for the copay for the doctor. Then a deductible for the braces and they they would pay half of the cost. I would rather just purchase them directly and forego the rest.

Thank you. Feels good to get back to my normal routine. I have always enjoyed walking. I know knee braces can be very expensive.

It is great exercise but not good walking when it is humid. It makes it hard to breath.

I love to walk, but don't do it in the summer-I cannot stand the heat! I do a lot of it during the rest of the year and usually take about 6 or 8 weeks off, which is now. We're going to join a health club so that will help once we begin swimming. Its great to hear that you're doing so well.

Good for you! I walk every single morning here and in Florida, since it's cooler then for a minimum of 5 miles unless it rains. If it rains, I use our treadmill or spin in our exercise room and do light weight training, or go to my hubby's gym. I also ride my bike and swim laps in the pool in Florida. We also play tennis, golf, and racquetball. I've been jogging a bit, too! I've been a serious walker rfor over twenty years!!!! Love it!
