The Garbage Man Took It Away!

My husband has trained for and run 28 marathons all over the country over an 18-year period. His last marathon, at age 68, was in July of this year. He has a very well-planned workout regime for the gym to ensure he stays in shape now that he is no longer running. Of course, the repetitive movement required for some kind of the weight-lifting workouts have resulted in left-arm pain. He most likely has what folks call "tennis elbow." Tennis elbow results when the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) muscle develops small tears. Resting the painful area, icing it, and whatever else the doctor recommended has resulted in those small tears in the muscle to repair themselves quite nicely. My husband is also using Salonpas® DEEP Relieving Gel that contains camphor, menthol, and methyl salicylate to alleviate pain. My entire house smells like that gel!! I cannot stand the smell of the menthol and camphor in Salonpas® !! It makes my eyes water. That stuff surely could damage nasal passages! I had trouble sleeping last night due to the strong smell of Salonpas® that floated through every room in our house. I bought Icy Hot Vanishing Scent to replace that stinky Salonpas® this morning. The garbage man took away the stinky Salonpas® on that big truck of his while my husband was at the dog park with Molly. Photo: Gel that is in the hands of waste-management now!

The Big White Truck (and its Evil Cohort, The Big Blue Truck) are two Monsters that Scar is still feared of

Those trucks are evil. I do not like them now due to the fact that those trucks frighten Scar. For Molly, the UPS trucks, and only UPS trucks, make her very angry.

I am so proud of you for tolerating the aroma. I am a weakling. It was too much for me to handle.

@AbbyGreenhill I have smelled that too, and I do believe my grandparents used it. One smell that is not pleasant at all.

I had tennis elbow as a student when I had typed too much (on a typewriter). It's an annoying affliction.

Those repetitive movements can really cause pain for humans. This is the first time my husband has had this affliction, but I am sure glad I got rid of the stinky pain reliever.

I bought the replacement before he got home. I had already told him the Salonpas was too much for my nose to handle. He has to use the replacement if he wants to live inside. He will be in a tent outdoors if he uses Salonpas again.

I know some ointments may have an unpleasant odor. But I did not believe that product, it was so intense that it would infest your whole house!

@Corbin5 At one time you talked about the smell of paper. Now instead, the smell of ointment is too acute for you. I believe you should have a special nose.

It works. Thank goodness. I was going to set up a tent in the backyard for him if he decided to continue uses Salonpas. I think that stuff would keep all skunks, bunnies and squirrels from entering our backyard.

@DianneN Well, someone her mentioned that it keeps mosquitoes away. I bet if you line the perimeter of your yard with Salonpas patches, no more mice!!

My ex would use Bengay and it got all over the sheets, couch etc. and was so horrible to smell day in and out. I bought those icy hot patches for him and his mom made him a corn bag to microwave. It made such a difference.

Thank you for the suggestions my friend!! The vanishing scent Icy Hot seems to work the same as the Salonpas, so things are good here.

@Corbin5 You can sew up one with rice too. I think a sock would work the same just sealing the end. They feel so good and no smell.

Yeah, and the worse makes one feel bad. As much as we like to say we are not animals. I am damn hurt and in a position of weakness. I think I have noticed that with my dogs most. Even if Kai has good intentions. Brooklyn hates medicine because she knows Kai sees a weakness. No need for a smell that lets everyone know. Poor guy, but yeah those smells are really strong.

@Corbin5 Yeah, not sure if it helps more than it hurts. Herb stuff is the way I go now. Native American stuff. Not sure if it works better, but makes my soul feel more at ease than what ever corporate America is putting out.
