Signal Left to Turn Right? Whose On First, I Don't Know...Third Base

Strange happenings on the New Jersey roadways lately. Drivers making right turns but using their left directional signal to do it. Coincidence, maybe? Four times in two days, I'm starting to wonder or as Yogi Berra once said, "It's Like Deja Vu all over again." As I have been giving my brakes a workout to avoid slamming into their rear bumper I'm also trying to fiqure out why this is happening? Could it be the person's right directional is out. Or is a this a new trend I'm unaware of only prevalent in NJ? Maybe their from a foreign country which drives on the left side of the road and they got their left confused with their right. Many questions but no real answers. The whose on first in the title as most Abbot and Costello comedy fans know is from their famous baseball routine. I can relate to Lou's assertion of I don't know. Guess the answer may be at third base, ha, ha. Now you probably have never encountered this kind of coincidence so often within the time frame I described, but have you ever experienced some strange coincidence happening to you? That's one comedy routine I absolutely love. I've not encountered that here. Could be an east coast thing. Then again, I don't go on the highway much. I hope people figure out their right from their left soon.

@dgobucks226 I don't know about that. I still get confused and I was in the Navy. But my confusion stems from Driver's Ed. With the instructor constantly telling me right and left, I ended up totally confused. My kids laugh when I hold up my hands and look at them before determining right and left. Usually I just point. It saves the confusion. However, when driving, I always put on the correct turn signal. It points after all.

Hmmm...how very odd. The only time I have seen someone use the wrong indicator, was a drunk driver one night and traffic officers pulled him over! Is it maybe buy one get one free time at pubs? Or yes could be they are from a foreign country. Do be extra careful driving "D"!

@dgobucks226 , oh yes, middle of the day does add to the puzzle of it. I can, I can say "Twilight Zone." . You're welcome DB, seriously, take care.

haha Abbot and Costello very funny I remember that DB. Yes I wonder what is happening with those NJ drivers. Indeed you may be right, maybe they are used to driving on the other side of the road from a foreign country.

That's one explanation. I've got to stop following all those non-U.S. drivers

I don't know but the ones using the wrong directional signal must be on 3rd.

I think sometimesit's just people tend to get so busy and wrapped up in life that they forget their real purpose and goal and end up doing things crazily eve,n when it means putting lives in danger. Might be a big sign telling everyone they need to slow down

That is so true. People are always rushing and maybe a little absent minded. Although a little weird no accident happened and at least one of us was paying attention to the road and traffic.

Not only is that a bit bizarre, but it could also cause an accident. I'm glad that you are okay.

Oh thanks Marie, very strange for sure! After the second time I became a lot more careful with cars signaling to turn.

Drivers who often weave in and out might first weave right and signal right but after going ahead and then weaving left might just forget to change their signal or cancel it because they are looking way ahead to the next several weaves they are about to take.

@dgobucks226 , Look at it this way, at least he took the time to signal, even if it was opposite his intended direction.

Your right there, they do there own thing! I've also experienced that with Pa. drivers, go figure? Maybe NJ and NY rubbed off on them too.
