Diary Thursday 17th August 2017 Another basic job search day, with a visit to the job club services run through the community centre where I was invited to prepare two general knowledge quiz events for later in the year too. Back home I prepared my final notes for tomorrow’s public talk at the community centre. Diary Friday 17th August 2017 My talk on the history of science fiction dominated the day. As the weather was very bad with torrential train, I was worried that no one would attend, but they had to get extra chairs in the hall for one of my best audiences there yet. Many in the audience were very enthusiastic. One chap had read quite a few of the authors I had and asked about some titles I hadn’t included in the script for the talk, so I was running quite close to running out of time in the end. It went really well and there was a very nice buffet laid on for us too. After the talk, I got a lift back to the flat and jut had time to get some vital shopping in too. Diary Saturday 19th August 2017 A quiet day in, catching up on my notes, writing, etc. I recently ordered a ticket for a forthcoming science fiction convention here in my home city of Preston. It arrived today by recorded delivery, and proved to be just a very slender wristband for wearing to secure admission to the event. I’ll have to take great care not to lose it before the 23rd of September. Youtube – Paul Simon – Wrist Band Arthur Chappell
"Wristband" is the first single off Paul Simon's new album "Stranger To Stranger," available now everywhere. Order Stranger to Stranger: iTunes: http://smart...

There must be a way of making this into a money-making venture so that you can get off Universal Credit or Jobseekers, or whatever the balloons they call it these days ...!

@Poppylicious I will earn a little money from the talks which I am in the process of declaring to welfare but it isn't enough to get me off welfare sadly

I am glad that people attended despite the rain, we had torrential rain here too, but only late in the evening. A science fiction Convention is surely interesting.
