I can't believe people are driving for miles and miles to see the eclipse. Yes, it's cool but is it really worth driving hundreds of miles for? Are our lives really that boring? I think it is kind of neat too, but I can think of other things more exciting. Will you be viewing, with the proper eyewear of course?

Hundreds of miles? Well, I should go buy a ticket now then. I might view it online instead. I expect many people to not watch it directly, but through the camera of their phones...

@snowy22315 What isn't safe? Watching it on the internet or through the phone?

A solar eclipse is very rare. Especially one that is this big. It is great that people are so interested in it. this is nature, this is space, this is what life needs to be! Being together and viewing something beautiful, instead of hating each other, looking at our phones, and being self absorbed.

I know. That's insane. And they're buying the sunglasses for it too. I might take a peek to see it and use my own shades to see it.

And here I thought it was just us Canadians thinking that. Not near as big a deal as some of the comets or the Northern Lights are. Nice to know that we are on the same page.

I don't think you will be able to see it from your area anyway.

We have a total sun eclipse in 1999, as it was visible from our balcony, I got the special glasses and we looked at it, but I would have not made miles to watch this.

Yeah, I mean, the actual eclipse portion is pretty short.

It is something the majority of people in the US will never see again. It's a big deal made bigger by greed! I have my glasses, but that doesn't mean I will run outside every two seconds to look at it! I think we'll see more on TV. My little town and surrounding area will have 100 percent coverage.

Since I do not want to lose my eyesight, I will take caution when the eclipse comes to town.

I don't care about the eclipse at all. I'll be skipping it.
