My mom watched a news and seemed to be excited to say that there will be a high speed train from Kunming to Thailand. I told her it was not that convenient for us. As it may spend no more than 4 hours for us to go to Thailand by plane from our city. Actually we flied there several years ago for a travel. I don't think we will take a high speed train there. As there is a long distance for us to go to Kunming. I remember it will spend us about three hours going there by plane. And what's the point we have to go to Thailand from Kunming since here it is closer It not only saves the time but also the money. We also have high speed train in my city and it is also a main station. I am not sure whether we can take a high speed train to transfer to Thailand in the future, but I don't think the price will be cheaper. Sometimes it may be less expensive to take a plane.

Would be a good alternative for those who do not enjoy flying.

@youless Yes; but there are people who are absolutely terrified of flying so they would often prefer not to go places especially overseas. But this new high speed train will at least give them the option to go to Thailand from China without flying...

We have more high speed trains in our country. Such as you can leave from my city in the morning and you will arrive in Beijing in the afternoon But I don't think it has a very big difference between it with the normal trains. Just their trains are newer, cleaner and much more expensive

@TiarasOceanView The difference is the high speed trains is better since they are all new. But you don't have beds as well as the normal trains. You can only have seats. If you pay more, then the seats will be better and probably have the plug but that's it So if it is over 6 hours of high speed train, I will prefer to take the plane or normal train. As at least I have a bed for the normal train. I am not sure about your second question. I think the high speed train from Kunming to Thailand is very new and therefore I don't know how long time it will take. I am sure it will be within 12 hours.

Very practical point of view. But trying it would be fun too.

I am curious how much it will cost. Will it be as competitive as the plane ticket?
