Emmett Goes Kayaking

Winston Salem, North Carolina
August 20, 2017 12:41pm CST
Our new travelling companion seems to be a hard driver. He had us up early this morning to take our kayaks out on Nantahala Lake to enjoy the cool morning air. We only own three kayaks so our water adventures have to be carefully planned to make sure all those who wish to participate get a fair chance. My husband, myself and our oldest daughter were the first ones up this morning, so we were the chosen ones for Emmett’s first kayaking adventure. He had to hold on tight since we weren’t able to find a life vest small enough to fit him. But judging by the grin on his face he enjoyed himself.

Taking him out without an appropriate emergency flotation device was probably not wise, but I didn't want to face his ire if we made him stay on shore. However, I suspect that his swimming skills are limited.

@Platespinner At least he isn't likely to sink much! I'm glad everyone had a good time.

He's a bit of a slave driver when we let him have his way.

He seemed to enjoy the outing. I had a hard time convincing him that going swimming was probably not a good idea.

I don't think we have any piranha in our lakes here, just trout, and bass, and bream, and ....

He's been pretty active today. We even put him to work by making him take the place of the Robber in a round of Settlers of Catan. He got a bit bored, though, and pulled out his camera and selfie stick to take some selfies.
