Are you over sixty-two? Do you live in the US? Do you like to go to national parks and monuments? How would you like a pass to get into ALL of them, for the rest of your life. There is a Senior Park Pass you can get, for only ten dollars right now. At the end of August it goes up to $80 per pass. You need one for each family member as it is non transferable. Bob and I each got one yesterday. At the end of August the price goes up to $80 each. Perhaps you would like to get one, before it is too late and the price goes up.

That's a good initiative. Obviously I don't fit any criteria, but I'm happy for the US senior citizens who have this opportunity.

I am sure each country has its own benefits for seniors, and its own definition of who or how old a senior citizen is.

@GardenGerty True, especially when it comes to healthcare. Here "seniorship" starts at 65, pretty much the same.

My hubby is 63. I'll have to get him to do this. Its another 10 or maybe 20 to get one on line but its worth it for sure. We don't have a way to get one by just walking into an office.

Yes, you have to balance whether you would spend more in gas. It is recommended that both spouses get one, cause it does not transfer, so the extra fees would have been a lot for us.

@GardenGerty We'd have to drive maybe an hour and a half each way to get to an office.

@sallypup So the fees may be offset by the convenience.

I have the senior pass and we don't each need one. I was allowed to bring in 4 people with my pass, including my grandkids. We do have two but only becasue I couldn't find mine and bought another. Are there any other benefits from a Senior Pass? Yes, traveling companions can also enter for free. The Senior Passes admit pass owner/s and passengers in a noncommercial vehicle at per-vehicle fee areas and pass owner plus three adults, not to exceed four adults, where per-person fees are charged. (Children under 16 are always admitted free.) Also, at many sites, the Senior Passes provide the pass owner (only) a discount on Expanded Amenity Fees (such as camping, swimming, boat launching, and guided tours).

we are currently in Pigeon Forge, just down the road from the Smoky Mtn National Park which is free to go into every day. It is the only close one (two hours) to us.

Two hours is a bit of a drive. I think my husband took my list. It seemed as if there were a lot I did not know about on it. Two hours drive would mean you would probably make a day of it.
