Only Great Thing About the End of Summer is What's In Season!

So sad the summer season is coming to an end- even though there's still some great time left. But the best part of this time of year is all the veggies and fruit that are now in Season for our enjoyment! In Canada what's in Season right now is some of my fave foods- ripe, sweet tomatoes, wild delicious blueberries, and who can forget the peaches and cream corn-on-the-cob. (Named for their bi-colour of white and yellow) Mmm! sweet and tender! Other things are great here now too- like peaches and plums that also ripen in August. I love cherries too but kind of missed getting the amount I wanted this summer as they were expensive. Cucumbers and zucchini are also seen everywhere so it's a wonderful time for salads! What about you? Where you live what's in Season right now? If I keep getting older- and there's a really good chance of it- I may just be in Season myself! Pixabay free image

I resemble that last remark We have pretty much the same fruits and veggies you do and I'm enjoying all of them.

@MarymargII It's been a long time since I had corn on the cob. I can't eat it anymore - no teeth.

The tomatoes are really good this year and I'm about to have my first taste of seasonal corn-on-the-cob tomorrow night!

We're seeing lots of ripe tomatoes, capsicums and pumpkins in the backyard gardens as we travel around and yesterday two young lads with baskets were picking blackberries along the side of the road.

@MarymargII We picked some last trip when we stopped in a parking bay. It's nice to get them so fresh.

@JudyEv Yes, they are a different kind of berry but I love the taste! We don't seem to get them wild here or else I'm just not aware of them.

The same things that are in season in your country are in season here. In a couple of weeks also the grapes.

I have a friend close to Toronto, who says the apples are finally looking like apples. You're so lucky to have blueberries in season. Here they are very expensive. We're on our way out of winter soon so I have eaten tons of oranges, soon it will be watermelon time.

So you are now in orange season I gather and the watermelons are on their way for Spring. That is so neat- We don't get watermelons here until Summer and they are mostly imported from warmer climes--:)

@MarymargII I don't know why, but I always skip spring because our temperature seems to, I think watermelons are also only available in summer here, let's say their on their way ;)

I'm not sure what all is in season right now in Florida, with our mild year-round climate, it seems as it's always growing season around here! I do know that blueberries are at the tail end of their season, and people are trying their best to get the last of the pickens from the blueberry bushes.

@MarymargII I wish I would have known, I could have picked bushels of blueberries here and sent them up to you! There's still some blueberries left, but most of the blueberry bushes are picked clean by the time July rolls around. And yes, they are delicious! I love blueberries too!

Yes, we get a really short season of wild blueberries here- grown in the rugged Central Ontario region- They are natural and their season is short but they are delicious but also expensive- last a month and that's it. Love Blueberries!
