I came across a post criticizing others.

I came across a post, for the first time here, that was dedicated to criticize other posts. The member did not like long posts nor poems. But it also said (even though he/she was a newbie) that mylot was NOT made for those sorts of posts. I have been spared so far from that, fortunately. But I have heard that some people have told Patsie Hatley that she should write otherwise. I wonder, why don´t those mylotters just skip the long posts or the poems if they don´t like them? I usually skip responding posts about politics or religion although I have my own view. Should we report such an aggressive post? Or we should skip it it and let it go?

I would just avoid that author. If they're a "newbie," they're not in a position to be telling us what this site is about.

It would probably be appropriate to report such a post and allow Admin to make the decision. Personally I feel the same way as you that it would be more prudent to avoid the posts they dislike rather than criticise them.

@marguicha I believe that The Bible does preach against homosexuality, but this was written by man several thousand years ago and cannot be taken seriously today. The Bible also states 'An eye for an eye', but that does not mean that if someone runs over your dog you should do the same. People should read The Bible sensibly.

I do not get involved here in politics or religion. I leave that for conversations with my friends after dinner. But once I did get involved here when there were several people who cited the Bible to go against gays. Fortunately, that is much better and bigotry is not so open.

@Asylum It might. But I agree with you that even believers have to read the Bible sesibly, as you say.

It would take a lot of reporting if we reported everyone who posted about the types of things they don't like to read here.

True. Although I cannot imagine why they waste their time with so negative posts.

@marguicha Long time members list topics that don't interest them. I don't know why they do it either.

Ugh, some people are just so rude. I am not a fan of really really short posts, but I am not going to make a post, make money by hurting other's feelings. That is the worst part, they made an entire post, and get a few cents because of it. basically making money bullying others. The only ones who can say what the site is really for are the admins and they stated what it is meant for in the guidelines. It is a place to interact, learn, and have fun.

I think that there is a minimum of lines that mylot admits. I don´t know whether they are one or two lines. I could never write so short

@marguicha Anything that is just one line, I cannot stand. Especially ones that ask questions and do not answer the questions themselves. It is just so irritating haha and makes users look so lazy!

I think the person was stating their opinion, everyone knows they can comment on any post so pick and choose accordingly.I don't know about Patsie since I can't understand a vast majority of her posts. So I choose to skip those.

I agree that anyone can state their opinion. But stating one´s opinion is not the same as saying "this site should not accept this or that" when you have just arrived.

I've seen the post you mentioned and I just commented on it. I'd rather skip the post and let it go this time. The post didn't come across as aggressive to me although reporting it is an option and just let the myLot admin decide on it.

If they weren't referring to a certain person themselves than maybe just ignore it. I know if it is directed at someone directly-made obvious to others admin WILL delete it if reported. Admin deleted a discussion directed towards me in a negative way.

I have read the post and I told the user that he was rude. I have read very good long posts, if I judge that a post is not interesting I skip, no matter how long it is. I wonder if to come back to this post and report the user.

He certainly was rude. Even if I don´t like long posts (or poems, or anything) no one has to say that they should not be written.

@marguicha Most of the time I also prefer short posts and I am not a fan of poems, but it's not against the rules to write them.
