Today's Eclipse

How many of you saw the eclipse today? We were at the outer edge but it happened a little after 2 o'clock and turned about as dark as sun set. We didn't go out to look since We didn't have glasses but we sat on the deck and watched the change from bright sun light to dusk then watched it change back to bright. It must have been spectacular in the areas of pure darkness. We watched it later on TV. Were you in the area of darkness?

All it did here was get cool and that was it. It did not get dark.

Really I was under the impression that a large section of Oregon was dark but that didn't mean anything. A section of north Georgia was completely dark and we weren't.

We should have gone to north Georgia. They had people from everywhere. Just kidding, I wouldn't want to be in the middle of that crowd.

It looked a little weird to me when it started going dusk in the middle of the day.

We didn't get the full effect but it did feel a little eerie when the sky went from blue to gray.

It changed here but didn't get dark. It was too dark to read on the deck and our outside light came on.

We have no chance to see it because there's typhoon here and the sky is just full of clouds.

We could see from our apartment but we could see better from the deck. We won't see it again until 2024.

@RubyHawk, I witnessed several lunar and solar eclipses when I was young. We also didn't have glasses, but we're always using a big basin with water. We were told the sun was eating the moon, the moon was eating the sun, etc which we believed that time.

If I recall correctly we used a paper with a tiny pin hole to look through earlier.

This was the first time it was coast to coast since 79. I was at work then and it was about the same darkness as this time.

No, I didn't bother to go see the partial-eclipse here in Missouri, Ruby. (I've seen the eclipse before, so wasn't concerned with seeing it again.) I slept through the time it would have been visible here.

@RubyHawk But the partial eclipse was all people talked about the next day here. SMH! (People can really be weird, in my personal opinion! )

We were in an area of 90% totality, and it was spectacular! It even got pretty dark, and the temperature dropped noticeably. It was a fun afternoon!

That's great! I saw it, but we had about 60% here, so it only dimmed a little, but not significantly.

@RubyHawk It didn't really get dark here, but the shadows grew long at one point, but that's about it.

We only had 60 percent of the eclipse. I was only able to see it through the glasses a friend offered me to use for a few seconds. I was working so I didn't have time to lollygag.
