It Is Like A Mad Thing!

The wind is howling like a mad thing outside! And when it is like that I panic a little because once many years ago, 1948 says my Mom, Roodepoort got hit by a tornado! And I live in Roodepoort Wilropark!
We have put our garden chairs on their sides and brought everything else inside. There is so much sand in the air that suburbs I usually look out at can't be seen.
I hope we don't get another tornado, it seems that one all those years ago was a true oddity and I hope it stays that way!

Tornadoes are no fun at all! I got caught in one several years ago, but thankfully it was only a small one. I was driving home from work and had to pull off the side of the road and run into a restaurant to take shelter. The manager made all the customers and employees hide in the walk-in freezer for safety, which was a good thing because the roof of the restaurant got sucked off in the twister. Thankfully, no one was injured. I hope nothing like that happens to you!

Oh my word, Jeff! Thank goodness you were able to take shelter in that restaurant and I am so happy the walk in freezer kept you all safe! Here the wind is still howling like crazy and the roof creaks now and then and there is rattling and banging, but thankfully no tornado!

@moffittjc , according to the news it is a massive sand storm and I can't see the lights of the suburbs I usually look out at the dust is so crazy in the air. The other day was nothing compared to this, hopefully it moves over, over night.

I hope no harm has come to your house and property. You were wise to turn the chairs on their sides and bring everything else inside. I've been in many hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards, tornado watches, and even a monsoon. Lucky, no damage to us. Stay safe!

Thank you dear Dianne. It is after 1am and the howling is creepy, all rattling and creaking, but so far so good. I am so happy you all were okay going through all that you mention! Will try my best, I hope the howling settles down soon.

wow, tornados appear in some parts of my country. there was once too, that a very strong wind passed by our house in seconds but several galvanized iron as roofs of houses were blown away. i thought there was a tornado that passed through us.

@bluesa i watched the news on TV that there is a very severe hurricane crossing the US skies. i hope there is minimal damages only.

Love the cool image "C." Yes high winds are scary! They can be very destructive even if it is not a tornado. I saw a tornado once from a distance and it destroyed a town about a half hour's distance away. Tornado's are eerie and quiet then scary!

Oh dear. Tornados are scary. I have had a couple get close to me. Find a safe place just incase and I will hope that it doesn't get too near your. Cool imagine, too btw

@FayeHazel , Yes, thankfully it all settled down by lunch time today and August is our windy season but some of the winds are more violent than others. I did get your meaning. :-)

@bluesa Normally I like storms - just not high winds or tornados. Is your storm over? Is this storm season for you? Oh - that should have said image up there, not imagine, but you got my meaning :-)
