Fifty Dollars!

So, the wife needed another antibiotic and the pharmacy that it got sent to couldn't get it until this afternoon.
I, however, preferred to not having to go out again in the afternoon if I could avoid it, so when they asked if I would like them to try another store, I said: "Yes."
Before I got home, they called me and said that they found another store that had it and wanted to know if I wanted them to transfer the script over there, I said: "Yes."
I get home and the store calls and says it'll be ready in 30 minutes, I said: "I'll be there."
I drive to the store and get in the drive through. When I get to the window the guy says: "That'll be fifty dollars and thirty-nine cents co-pay."
"Fifty Dollars!" I responded. "No, there should be no co-pay."
"Are you still with United?" (insurance company.)
"Yes."
"I'll check again."
A moment later and he says: "You are right, no co-pay."
What the heck? Was he trying to bilk us out of money? I mean, even if she still had to pay a co-pay it wouldn't be $50!
I couldn't believe that. Maybe I need to call and complain to the manager...

Yes, I would call the manager, but then, you already did. (I read the rest of the comments.) Keep an eye on that one if you ever go there again.

Personally anymore, you really need to be on your toes when it comes to prescriptions. I am Glad you had them Rerun it. Calling a manager could be a Good thing to help keep mistakes like this from happening again in the future for you or anyone else.

My insurance company has its pharmaceuticals division managed by CVS. I do not care for CVS at all and have heard some real horror stories about how they handle their stores. My co pay is never more than $3.65 and that is for expensive meds, like the stuff I have now...my newest meds are over $400 for 30 pills.

I'm glad my insurance company doesn't force me to go to one pharmacy. When I first started with my job, they did try that for a while, but since it was a state wide insurance and some some small towns didn't always have the pharmacy in question they had to change it. The wife's insurance is nation wide.
