So, tonight is my sleeping test. They are going to hook me up to wires and such and test how I sleep. The pulmonologist feels that my CPAP may need to be upped or something like that. Apparently it is not working as well as it used to. So they are going to check it out. I am having a harder time sleeping than usual lately and I wake up periodically feeling like I am suffocating. It is going to be strange going to bed without my hubby by my side but it's only for one night. Have you had a sleeping test before?

@TiarasOceanView my own guess is that I need a higher rate of airflow these days. I am sure it will all work out. It's too bad your son hasn't been diagnosed but I understand about the anxiety level.

Mine is coming up. It will be my first ever, and not sure what to expect from it. It's on the 31st. I don't think it's necessary. I'm just humoring the doctor who thinks that my headaches, which are surprisingly going away with this new diet, and my fatigue could be a sign that I stop breathing at night. I'd know if I did. I have had a couple episodes when I suddenly couldn't breathe or get any air into my lungs and had to work hard to get air into them. That scared me, but I haven't had anything like that happen in many years now, so I don't think I have sleep apnea, which is what I'll be tested for.

You wouldn't know if you stopped breathing Val. My husband told me he didn't and thought I was crazy. He humored me by mentioning it to his doctor. The doctor told him that if I said he stopped breathing, then he did. He went to a sleep clinic and received a C-Pap machine. It works!

I thin that as long as you have it arranged you should probably go ahead and get it. It's just hard for me to sleep attached to wires and in a strange place. The first time I had it I took it because the doctor insisted. I thought there was no need for it. I am glad I did. The CPAP machine helped me with my fatigue because I slept better. Let me know what goes on with you.

It will be fine. It's stressful because you are trying to go to sleep attached by wires to a machine.

You are doing the best thing for yourself. I've never needed it, but my husband did. He didn't like being there and couldn't fall asleep, so he removed the wires and was home at 3:00AM. Guess what? He managed to sleep just enough so they could get a reading. Good luck to you! Prayers that they will be able to help you.

@HazySue Yes. He stopped breathing and tossed and turned too much, but the CPap helped. He never snored.

I've had two, and it's not surprising to me that it showed sleep apnea. Your sleep routine is completely messed up because you have to do things "their way" instead of what you normally do before bed. Plus, you're wired like the computer department at a store with all these electrodes on you. Is it any wonder they say people have sleep problems?? At any rate, good luck.

It is hard to sleep in a strange place all hooked up to a machine. You are absolutely right about having to change your routine before trying to go to sleep there.

The CPAP does make a big difference in the quality of your sleep. At least it did for me. Thanks.

No I've not had one. I've been told that taking one might be a good idea since I rarely wake rested.
