Hmmm ..the world is overpopulated.
All human beings have desires.
At least fifty percent believe in some god or the other.
Their respective gods are all sitting at their counters like at the airport, fulfilling their devotees' wishes one by one...
But ...........
You wanted that cell phone the moment you reached that counter, and god gave it...
Hell, you asked for a small thing, and forgot the bigger thing...
Now again you have to stand in that long queue, for getting your wish...
How focused are you on your desires, and are you really sure you want it?

@sabtraversa .. You could try dieting...food will still be sufficient because whatever you do not eat, somebody else will, and air will still be free from pollution because there will be less stuff turning into morning gases.

Not much. 
Unfortunately I'm the impatient type, but of course there can be exceptions.

I remember always wanting a dog or 2 or 3 or ..... ok ok, so I love dogs ..... well, the first pet I got was a kitty, she was so very sweet and graced my life for 16 years. When she was 6 years old I finally got a dog, I was elated and eventually I got 2 dogs and my kitty was ok with that.
I've had dogs and cats ever since and will continue to have dogs, I'm not so sure I'll have anymore cats once the ones I have are gone.

@rebelann .. He was not young, but he was not ill either. Just terribly terribly sad and unable to share his feelings for want of language for communicating...used to run round and round the compound searching for the late uncle, and would bark at others almost asking them where is so and so, where have you kept him. It may look as if he was mad, but he was a very intelligent dog.

That is a good way to think of it, that one just has to approach some counters (with the money) and some sort of 'god' would give one what one wants . You are right too, re: how focused are we on our desires... There were times I thought to myself, 'oops, I like to have it, but I could see the downfall if I really possess such a thing...'

@vandana7 That is why these days, to be safe, I copy what the RC nuns taught me, pray like this, 'Please God, IF in your wisdom you think I should have such a thing, then please give me quickly. If the idea is not wise, please forget that I ever wish for it... Amen!'
