What Gets You Through the Day?

I like to listen to piano music at work so it feels like I'm playing along while typing on my computer keyboard. I've put on some amazing classical concert performances sitting at my desk. My co-workers think I'm crazy. They're not wrong. I think I'm Mozart. It helps me get through the day. Don't judge!

I think that is a great way to do it. I like piano music myself. What do they listen to?

They don't listen to anything. I play the piano music too loud, so I drive them crazy with my music! And besides, they don't pretend to be concert pianist like I do! haha

@moffittjc You know how to do it and that is what upsets them. Here is a quote for you: Remain open. There is something bigger than you know going on here. Hang that on your wall and see what kind of responses you get. Who knows, maybe some day you will be a super star with your piano playing.

@TiarasOceanView They were very soothing sounds to listen to! Even today, I'm pretty sure I could speak whale-speak if I was ever out in the ocean and saw one of those magnificent creatures! lol

You may laugh at this, but I used to listen to whale music/whale songs when I was having stressful days. For some reason, it was very soothing and hypnotic for me.

If that helps, why not. Music distracts me when I'm typing, it's like having someone who talks. Maybe classical would be different, but then if my typing speed doesn't follow their rhythm, I might get a little confused too. If there's an instrument I can play very well, that would be the keyboard... the computer keyboard.

@bluesa Between your guitar and my drumming and/or keyboard playing, we would have one hell of a great air band! How's your singing voice? We definitely need an air singer, but it definitely shouldn't be me! LOL

@moffittjc Music does help. When I worked outside the home I was always the only one with a radio in my office. Couldn't understand why hardly anyone else wanted to work to music.

Many people don't appreciate classical music, and it's such a shame, because it's pretty awesome music! I often tell people it was the heavy metal of the Renaissance! lol

@Misty08 Well, if you really listen to classical music, you will realize it's pretty intense. That's why I say it was the heavy metal of its time! I wonder what music would have been considered the pop music of the Renaissance?

@moffittjc hahaha. I like your description. Heavy metal of the renaissance. Most people most especially millennials are into pop or electronic music. nowadays, beats in songs are adored coz of their groove

I was commenting on another member's comment that years ago I used to listen to whale songs/whale calls to relax me. I had a CD that had over an hour of the whales singing and calling to each other. Very soothing. It always helped me fall asleep.

I listen to old Christmas music when I'm feeling stressed or panicky. No matter what time of year it is. Something about it is soothing to me and makes me feel safe. Or I listen to oldies from the '50s and '60s, or my current favorite band (Ghost)...sticking the Golden Girls or Ghostbusters on in the background while I'm working also helps me get through the day and keeps me feeling calm.

I love old Christmas music too! But I wait until the season before I listen to it, because it just wouldn't seem right listening to it at other times of the year!

Good to hear about that. I am not into classical music. The only time I would listen to them is if they are a soundtrack of a movie. I also tried to listen to classical drum, flute or those relaxing music found in the internet but I don't feel relaxed. I think what I need is a hobby.

I love rock music too, but it's hard to simulate playing a piano on the computer keyboard when you're listening to the screeching sounds of guitars!
