Purple is the combination of red and blue. With it comes the connotations of luxury, wisdom, royalty, and independence. It is said that purple inspires creativity and supports magic (literally and metaphorically). When decorating with purple, it is important to use complimentary lighter shades. Complementing, contrasting shades would be gold or lime green. Complementing, corresponding shades would be pink or lavendar. These lighter shades will keep purple from being overwhelming.

I do. This was my son's rehearsal dinner. His wife's favorite color is purple.

I have never heard that. I guess maybe it depends on the classes one takes or the sources used for research. Interesting, I will see what I can find out. Personally though, purple makes me happy lol.
