Day 6 Isaiah 6 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. 11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, 12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. 13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. Have you heard the messages in church about going into the world as missionaries, taking the gospel everywhere? Was your heart stirred for the people who didn’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord? Did you have missionaries speak at your church with wonderful slide shows about the people they ministered to? Long before there were missionaries spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world, there was Isaiah offering to go to his own people and tell them the vision of the LORD. Isaiah’s vision had a bite to it. God told him to preach his message, but they wouldn’t understand, and their eyes and ears would be closed so they couldn’t see or hear. Have you ever wondered why your message is falling on deaf ears? No matter what you say, nobody is listening, they just keep going about their ways, unmindful of the path of destruction they’re on. God knows the heart of every man, woman, and child. He knows who will listen, and who won’t. For those who won’t listen, God allows them to continue their path of destruction, but there is a limit. Isaiah asked how long the people would be unmindful of what God was doing. God told him it would continue until the cities and towns were desolate without inhabitant. However, there would be an end, and God would bring back the remnant, a tenth of the people would return, praising God, acknowledging he alone is LORD. As Christians, you see people every day who are bent on their own destruction. You can pray for them, and ask the Holy Spirit to bring them to the cross. However, only God knows whether they will listen. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. People love darkness. They love their sin and don’t see a need to change. God commissioned Isaiah to go. Jesus commissioned his disciples to go. Likewise, your commission is to go. It isn’t your job to convert anyone to Christianity. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV) It is God who brings people to salvation not you. You are the messenger, just as Isaiah was the messenger, just as John the Baptist was the messenger, and Paul and Peter, and all the disciples. Will you take the message to the people? Will you be a messenger? Let’s pray: Father, help me be a messenger, taking your message to the people. Let me know it is you, not me who brings souls to salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
