Phone Call

There is a law that states a telemarketer can call between 9 AM and 9 PM, not before or after. I got a call yesterday just before 9 PM. Not sure what they were selling, but it was automated and I hung up. Then last night - 2:53 AM - to be exact, my phone rang. It's that dreaded hour of the night when you don't want to hear the phone because it always signifies an emergency. I ran for the phone, not even bothering to put my robe on, and picked it up, breathless, expecting the worst. It was the same automated telemarketer. I slammed the phone down, totally angry to be woken so early, and went back to bed fuming. This morning I looked at my phone to find the off button for the ringer. I'm going to try to remember to turn it off tonight and every night from now on. I don't need that kind of heart pounding stupidity. I do have elderly family members I care about very much. I don't need to be worrying unnecessarily about them when the phone rings at that hour of the night/morning. Have you gotten telemarketer calls in the middle of the night? Thanks for reading.

I leave my phone unplugged when I go to bed which I know isn't a good idea but I don't really have anyone other than my husband to worry about & he's just across the drive way from me.

I'm glad you haven't experienced that. Yes, it is, and very inconsiderate.

We have never got telemarketer calls in the middle of the night, but the panic that would cause is understandable.

I was very upset to go rushing for the phone from a deep sleep, my mind on what might have happened.

Oh dear. That was very rude of them to do that. For myself I have had calls at that time but not Telemarketers. I would have banged the phone down in his ear as well. Hope his or hers ears rang for a long while after.

It was an automated call, so no live person.

@just4him Even so I would still do the same and see if they get the message either way.

Yikes, when talking about telemarketer, they kinda aggressive. They call non stop without caring what timezones we are. They don't care whether we working, studing, doing chores and others. They called up to 5-6 times and more everyday, every week. I have to block their numbers somehow because it's disturbing

Yes, disturbing and annoying. Thankfully the phone didn't ring yesterday other than one time and no one was there.

There's a law against them calling that time of night. They should understand that.

I've started getting them on my cell phone, but mostly they are on my landline. I would love to block those numbers.
