I now avoid the comment section of videos and news articles

Comment section of Videos and news sites had been a sexist and racist cesspool lately. Seriously I was reading a sweet article about Sushi and It was filled by racism and hate. It is not even a politicial article but because it is a news site, It is a place for trolling. Oh I watched a music video on Youtube and I never expected that a sweet rock ballad about heart break will be a commenting paradise of a White supremacist who wanted all People of color out of Europe. I don't know why an innocent video will have so much racism. Oh I watched a video of a female martial artist who is proud of her achievements and guess what, one of the top comments is a some insecure man asking her to stop doing martial arts and make a sandwich instead. I swear If the website is not named Mylot, I will be away from the comment section. I will just read the article or watch the video and avoid the comments altogether I like the strict rules in Mylot because a racist scum won't survive a minute here.I think sexism is still here though because some controversial political posts in Mylot about women are still not deleted.

The beauty of the freedom of speech. I'm all for it, I just accept some people are dumb and their views won't hurt me anyway. I said freedom of speech, not freedom of action.

Censorship though is the reason why Mylot became more enjoyable. For sure those bigoted people do have freedom of speech as internet is a democratic place. in my case though I dont read those comments anymore. I avoid comment sections now because of some people.

@sabtraversa Someone here asked me if I eat dog because I am part Asian. Someone here did asked me if I am a gardener or illegal immigrant because I am Hispanic. Someone also did asked me if I have identity crisis because I am mixed race. They did ask politely and tried to answer their questions politely even though I am sort of triggered because they might be be curious about it.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I wouldn't have any problem if myLot had no censorship, but I understand some would. The issue is about taking things personally and feeling offended. If someone here posted 'women are inferior', I would laugh at them. And that's it. If someone was physically violent towards me, then that's another story. The secret lies in balance, if you express your opinion in an extreme way, you'll be wrong. If you use metaphors and use polite manners, you'll be right most of the times. Two people saying things differently might actually say the same thing/have the same views.

Actually I have seen some racist posts lately here and nothing is done about them. I avoid the haters - they hate others because they hate themselves.

usually when I report a racist and homophobic post here it gets deleted very fast. The sexist post though they get to stay like those post blaming women who dresses sexy as cause of rape.

@CaptAlbertWhisker That is horrible. I have never come across those ones but I guess they must have a problem determining what is sexist. No excuse anyway.

I know, every time I look at comments on Swagbucks, people leave political or otherwise inappropriate comments. I have not noticed the controversial political posts here, but that could be because I do not go to those kinds of posts.

That is so bad. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. That was what my grandparents taught us.

I may understand if people post their controversial views as an anonymous but many of them shamelessly uses their real identity like the ones that uses Facebook commenting. Many people had been fired from their job for making racist comments but people still make racist comments.

@CaptAlbertWhisker This is sad and it shouldn't happen. I guess people jsut can't see the beauty of everyone in the world. I love the different cultures and people around the world. I don't have any bad feeling about any of them. This is wrong to jude an entire race of people based on the wrongs of a few. I just wish it would stop.

But while comparing with other sites, Mylot provides secure platform

Same here! Every time I feel tempted to look at the comments section, I remind myself I'm wasting my time and would be better off just doing something more productive with my time. It's so stressful just how much hate anonymity can allow people to spew at other people. I'm actually working on cyberbullying for my thesis, so sometimes I have to research cases... it's horrible!

Some of them are not even anonymous because they commented via Facebook. You know many news sites allow people to comment via facebook.

i observed this inappropriate comments in the mylot also, members do comment irrelevantly, members who comments like such should have a brain, mylot is the place where all types of discussions and debates takes place. Each site will have admin and he / she should take care of such things (not to encourage people to comment or post such matters) I also seen some of the old sites where the comments will be posted unless they use the words in an another way.

Mylot have better censorship though. The other sites have no censorship of any form that is why the comments there are filled with filth. here you can easily report a bigoted opinion and it will be gone within 24 hours. That wont happen on Youtube, Face book and news sites.

I wish they'd give those buffoons their own internet domain world...instead of the web site starting "www" maybe it can start "kkk," that way they can leave the rest of the world alone...and vice versa.

No matter where you go online there is some form of hatred towards others. People beating others in situations of 5 on 1. People abusing random strangers it is sad to see the world is slowly getting more hateful more violence less reasoning.

I had been using the internet since I was a little kid and I notice that racism in the internet had been more worst these days. They are more vocal and they even threat people.

I completely understand. It's even hard for me to read some friends Facebook posts because of the comments. YouTube comments sometimes really show the worst of people.

I have some relatives in the facebook with political views that I just cant stand. Youtube is the worst place of comments though. Many comments there are cancerous.
