Fall is Coming and I Love/Hate That it is!

I'm sure many of you feel the way I do about Fall. Love the Season but hate the fact that a) Summer is over and b) after Fall comes Winter. There's been a decidedly cooler breeze blowing lately especially at night and definitely Fall is in the air though. Like it or not. I do love Fall with all its rustic colour and pumpkin pies etc. but don't like that it precedes Winter. If I had the money I would definitely go South for three months after Christmas but must instead brave those cold temps and winterly snow days. But for now I will relax and enjoy the rest of summer- it actually doesn't come till almost the end of September which is almost a month away! But still that cold wind at night is hard to ignore.

Music to my ears. I know as I get older and my bones creak more, I should be more wary of winter and colder weather, but I've always loved winter and Fall is just the pre course to winter, and a very beautiful one.

It's funny how our perceptions of the seasons will vary by geographic location. Here in the south (and in Florida particularly), we love the Fall because a) it means summer is over; and b) it means winter is coming and we'll finally get relief from the heat and humidity! The only color change our leaves undergo here in Florida is when they die and fall off the tree. So we have green or brown. That's pretty much it. No in-between! haha

@MarymargII I wouldn't call our year-round warm weather "great," as most of the year it's too hot and humid for comfort or enjoyment. I think the only time Florida is better off than most of the other states is during the winter, when we finally get enjoyable temperatures!

This summer has been so hot and unpleasant that I cannot wait to see Autumn come. It is extremely hot today, hot and humid, too early for Autumn.

Well we had a rainy and cooler summer so it will just be more of the same although some of the sunny days have been glorious.

@Marymargll - I agree, although it doesn't get real cold here in Southern California. However, summer is still more pleasant than winter, even here!

@MarymargII - I like fall, too, even in California. There are a lot fewer tourists in Laguna Beach ... LOL.

Yes but it's been a weird one for everyone I think! Still the thought of Winter in the horizon is not a cheerful one- I do love the Fall though- so gorgeous and great atmosphere and weather!

I do love every season. Fall is kind of my favourite, but it finds me lamenting that I did not do enough kayaking!

@MarymargII I have rarely kayaked in September. The temperatures just drop right off it seems. Even if it gets warm, it is just for part of the day. And the nights are very cool so the water is so much colder. Now, yesterday was warm enough but we were at a wedding!

Jealous of a fall season. In my area, only couples of fall days which will start from the late October and then winter comes suddenly. Go through a summer from late April or early May to late October or early November. Such a long time.

@Behindtheguitarbar Well those months are hot here too but yours is tropical heat and is much hotter. We can get very warm days in September as well. This summer was on the cool side though.

@MarymargII yes, the hottest month is July and August, but there are some hotter days in September and October too. We always wear T-shirts and shorts during these months.

Like you I'm not fond of winter. We tolerate it (do we have a choice?) the cooler nights make sleeping quite pleasant. Right now I should be sleeping, but my husband is snoring,,,,,

I welcome the cooler weather. I am much more comfortable in the cold then in the heat. The only time I don't like Winter is when there is 2 feet of snow..and it is a hassle to deal with the car, or it is cold in the house and I am too cheap to turn on the heat..and my bones get chilled.

I am with you on going South. I am in Alabama and the winters are to cold for me, Key West sounds like a nice winter place to stay.
