Do you get to live in your home tax free once it's paid off?

I think once you spend 30 years to buy a house it's still not yours. I only believe that because it still could be wiped right from under you. I think the worse thing about having a home is when you truly can't afford it. It looks raggedy outside and inside it looks like the maid was fired.

In the state of Mississippi my husband and I do not have to pay taxes on our home or land. I get a 100% exemption, because I am legally blind.

@Tampa_girl7 hat is just what I would call it. With your vision like that can you manage the house on your own like cooking and stuff?

@sharon6345 But having my own is different. Though, I agree that we still are paying for the tax of my parents' house.

@andriaperry That is for renters to be insured. Home owners should not be paying after 30 years of the mortgage.

No you always pay property taxes, till you are 65, then you are exempt. Most home owners tend to their property, but I can not judge people by how much they clean or not clean their homes.

When you own your home and you drive by it. It should make you proud to live there. Just like passengers on the road seeing a house. It would be nice to say I would love to live there. it's just something I think about I might be the crazy one for that though.

Property taxes pay for town services like police, schools, garbage, sewer, water, road maintenance, etc. If people stopped paying property tax, why should they be entitled to these services?

Well..It`s hard nowadays to own a house without paying property taxes..I`m also wondering why there`s something like that when it`s your own, right? What is the purpose of property taxes?
