Where the Heck Did August Go?

United States
August 31, 2017 5:42am CST
Seems just a short time ago that it was then end of July. I dreaded that because I was turning 60. Was a rough day for me. LOL, but I survived to tell the tale. Now it is the end of August and the crisp air tells me that autumn weather is not far away. One day we have the heat on, the next the windows are wide open. Can never plan ahead it seems when it comes to the weather. I would love to go to the beach again this weekend. However, hubby wants to go to another fair. It will be a fun day for Little Miss though. Lots laughs and a fireworks display at the end of the day. We could go to the beach the following weekend though. But, I believe that my husband will be left behind because he has a bow shoot. I could take my daughter with me. Driving long distances alone aren't my cup of tea. So, with August ending soon, are you trying to make plans for the next month too?

I wish I could tell you where August went. It went by so fast, and now school is starting. We're getting some cooler weather as well. Fall probably isn't too far behind.

@dodo19 my elderly clients tell me often of how bad winter will be this year. I hope they are incorrect with their statements. We will have to wait and see.

@ElusiveButterfly I know the feeling. I'm sad that summer is almost over. Although I'll complain when winter is here, especially if it's a cold one.

I know i can't believe august is about over and a new month to begin. I'm not looking forward to September as Im having heart surgery the end of the month. I haven't been to a beach at all this summer but that's okay i did go to a water park for a week so that will do. Busy weekend for me with labor day this weekend lots of festivities going on.

A day at the beach is on our short term wish list also, but I fear it may not be happen. Time is flying by. We are booked this weekend, so no beach, and we have an out-of-town wedding to go to next weekend, so no beach unless we can squeeze in some time on the Sunday afternoon. It depends when we roll in, we're taking a hotel room for the night following the wedding. Good luck with making your last trip to the beach for the year wish happen.

@ElusiveButterfly It isn't for many people, but for me it's a favorite, though the harsh sub zero temps aren't so much. I don't go out if I can avoid it in such cases.

My husband have a much needed and anticipated vacation coming up in just over a week. So often his schedule doesn't allow time for a day away, but the schedule is cleared and we are good to go.....unless

Exciting stuff! We have no weddings in the near future. I do have to start planning a baby shower though. My son and his wife are expecting their first child at the end of December.

I can't believe how fast August flew by either. My son started his first day of first grade and now the annual arts festival is coming up and a ton of other things that happen annually for our household like I'll have to be making an appointment at the cranial facial clinic for my son. I myself didn't go to the fair this year after what happened at the Ohio state fair and then there were other issues at local fairs in my area that have made me leery about the rides which my son would inevitably want to go on and honestly I can't take the anxiety of it lol. I have most of my plans for the month in order, and this month will probably fly by too.

We did go to the fair last night. Little Miss ride 3 rides. One was the carousel with her Grampy standing next to her. The carousel went a little too fast and even my husband agreed.

@sissy15 wow, that is horrible. The ride she enjoyed most was run by a pleasant and attentive person. It was slowed down before the ride was stopped. My husband would have flipped if she were hurt.

@ElusiveButterfly We have had issues at our local fairs here, I just don't want to deal with the anxiety of the rides. One of the rides here in the NW Ohio area went up into smoke and another one the guy who was running it made it stop in its tracks and all of the kids hit their faces up against it some coming out with bruises and the guy running it laughed. That was in the neighboring town, so I just don't want to deal with the rides as the people who run them and put them together don't seem to care much about those riding it. It's too bad that it went a little fast, children's rides aren't supposed to go fast.

I am happy to see summer go. We have had several heatwaves this summer and are in the midst of another which is supposed to last all through next week, maybe longer. My plans for this upcoming month is to recover from the procedures performed on my legs (veinous ablation) and decorate for Halloween. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, but he doesn't like to be reminded of it and told me he doesn't want anything, not even a cake.

My sister-in-law had that procedure done on her legs. She said it was painful for awhile, but was not debilitating. Give your boyfriend a cookie or his favorite dessert. Some birthdays are harder than others.

@ElusiveButterfly I agree with your sister, it's uncomfortable but not debilitating. The worst part is having to get up and walk every half hour while having my entire leg wrapped in either ace bandage or thigh-high compression stockings...neither one wants to stay in place and every time I try to walk, it rolls down my leg. Which is incredibly frustrating! I will definitely get him some kind of dessert. He can't NOT have dessert on his birthday. Even if he doesn't want to acknowledge the day, he can still eat a cookie or a piece of cake!

I was told today that I look like I am in my 40's! That was a big boost to my ego. Hopefully we will get a few more weeks of warm weather. It was so humid this summer that I really didn't get a chance to enjoy it.

I must admit that August has ended so quicly too. I was with my siblings from the beginning of August and we spent holiday together but they went back to school on Tuesday and that is when it hit me that August is over. I plan to finish my school project before the 6th of September so I can have more time to interact with myLot members this September.
