And how long does it take before this poorly managed blood pressure affect my health or manifest in other health issues. So I think it has been two years that I have not been able to keep my blood pressure to normal value. It's usually 140/90 on average. When it goes to normal value, it does not stay too long to normal value. although last year I had my urine check and there's no sign of blood so it's still okay and not been affected by high blood pressure. And my heart ecg result about a year ago is just the same still healthy and normal thankfully. Anyone has knowledge on real life experience when and what their complications for high blood pressure. I'm trying to get my diet healthy since yesterday only. Not easy.

My blood pressure is normal and I don't have any serious illness. My mom had maintenance before and she suffered a lot from such illness. My family quit eating pork since February and we are all reaping the benefit of doing that. Our decision to do that was so sudden that we cut eating pork immediately. Though it was drastic we didn't seem to be searching for it nor do we miss it. I think eating healthy is a decision that one can make without any difficulty.

@hotsummer I was very young when my mom was complaining and she was in and out of the hospital. I have no concrete memory. It was a long time ago. We all felt healthier after, better sleep, improved immune system. We weren't sickly before anyway. Even our skin condition improved when we quit on eating pork. We haven't cut down on rice at all. I eat a lot since I'm already skinny. I don't want to lose weight.

@hotsummer if so, then you should always be aware of the foods that are high in sodium and fat content, and avoid them.

Are you taking meds? What did doctors say. Rice is not the problem. You quit eating salt in your diet for few days .one week or so and then after take less salt it helps. But take meds too

High blood pressure can be dangerous. You should avoid food that contains too much sodium (salt). Introduce more potassium in your diet, it lessens the effects of sodium. Try to exercise regularly, walking is enough.

@LadyDuck so is beef better than pork. That's good. I like beef. Chicken I think is also good, but with health warning of virus or bird's flu on the chicken as i have watched on the news, i am avoiding chicken for now
