Good morning everyone. I hope your having a good start to your day. Things are okay here. I have already done my devotions, some chores and the kids have done 30 minutes of reading. They are getting their workbooks today from storage. I can't get all of their books for Home school because I literally have nowhere to put them here. However, they learn in many different ways. They learn by cooking and believe it or not watching tv too. The other night we watched a documentary about Princess Diana and her life. (Part of History) They also learn Bible verses at AWANA. =) When we go to the park or the lake we look at different leaves, bugs and animals. (Science) Whenever we go to the store my children get to budget what's in our cart too-can we afford this or that with the money we have? (Math) It's a misconception that kids only learn by sitting at a desk with a book in front of them! My kids learn while having fun. =)

Of course you learn also going outside, except some specific things that you need to learn reading books.

@Ladyduck Yeah the first half of the school year we are doing more hands on learning and then once we're in a home we will be doing book learning.

@Happy2BeMe Yeah, they love learning. My oldest daughter downloaded a Spanish app so she could learn another language! No one told her to, she just wanted to learn something different. =)

I agree they learn in many ways. Cooking can also be part of math because you have to measure out the ingredients before you can mix it all together to cook it.

I know my grade school teacher always sent us out to parks to pick leaves and things for projects. Just came across this online and thought you and your children might be interested.
This DIY project is great for all ages and inexpensive! The leaves are so beautiful this time of year. What better way to enjoy a nature walk than picking up leaves to make these beautiful roses! The last for a really long time and each one is unique!

@LovingMyBabies I liked it myself perhaps I too will make it a project. My garden usually winds up with a lot of leaves so I don't even have to go far. Hope you enjoy this.

Learning is certainly all day, where ever we are, all of our life. I don't know of anyone who has the misconception that learning is only at a desk with a book.

@paigea Absolutely we all learn in many ways. I have heard plenty of times where people say if they aren't studying they are not learning. Not true.

It's a wasted day if you don't learn something new, it what my husband always says. He is in his 70s and hasn't been in school for a very long time.

I agree! Kids need schooling, but they're also supposed to learn at home too. And you have the two in one, which to me is better

Yes kids learn by having fun. I used to take my kids on nature walks and we would look on the ground to see what was there. Lady bugs and butterflies wee always around.

Usually, small kids learn easier and faster from real life by their personal experience. But, by this way, we also have to be more carefull making sure they learn interesting and healthy knowledge. Otherwise, we may loose them when they are getting older.
