The Coolest Labour Day Weekend in a While!

This weekend was one of the coolest Labour Day Weekends I can remember. I'm sure there has been some cool ones but in some areas in Ontario it was going down to 12 Celsius overnight! I feel worried about my son who went camping with friends this weekend- hope he brought some warm clothes. Brrr! Is summer not going to show up again before its official end around the 21st of September? Hope it shows up long enough to say goodbye before we get into Fall. Those autumn leaves will be turning colour overnight if these cool temps. continue. We took our granddaughter to the park on Saturday and that was a cool and blustery experience. The wind was blowing so hard we ended up walking back after a short time. The kids start back to school on Tuesday next week and they just might need to wear their warmer clothes or at least a windbreaker!

It's been quite cool here, too, but I love sleeping with the windows open.

I wish I could sleep with my windows open right now! But it will be 2-3 more months before I can even think of opening my windows!

We went down to 5C on Thursday night and it was warmer 6C on Friday night. I haven't checked this morning, but listening to the rain doesn't make me want to go outside.

I think we are the total opposite when it comes to the weather. Here is too hot. It only gets cold when there is a typhoon. Anyway, I hate typhoons. I would rather stand the hotness than to experience typhoons. The good news is that it is already September. We already think of Christmas whenever the "ber" months is here. It is cold during months of December up to February.

Yes and speaking of typhoons - the largest one on record is heading for Florida right now!

The temperature has dropped here during the night from August 31st to September 1st. Now it's a bit too cold, we are still in summer after all.

I was just watching the Weather Channel, and they said that temperatures throughout much of the mainland US will be 10-12 degrees F below normal, as the jet stream dips and brings in unseasonably cold air. It will be very interesting to see how much impact the jet stream dip has on this approaching hurricane; it could mean the difference between a catastrophic landfall, or a near miss as the storm turns out to sea.

@MarymargII I'm in the safety of my own home, and that's gonna have to be good enough. I'm on the emergency response team, so I will report to work during the storm when it passes through our area. Interestingly, everybody hates government employees until a disaster strikes. While everybody else is hunkering down or evacuating, we are putting our lives on the line for our citizens, because that is the dedication we have. I'm sure there won't be too many people hating us over the next week or so! haha

@moffittjc no, that's for sure and what an honourable position you have. Hope the repercussions of that monster storm are minimal. Am praying for Florida.

It has been the same way here on the east coast. We were hoping to go camping this weekend but it was just too cold and windy. Tuesday when the kids go back to school is suppose to be 26C here.

The sudden change in temperatures was a surprise and it isn't a very warm Labor Day weekend here either.

Yes, quite cool. Nice today though, but temps are definitely going down at night. Had the car heater on to go to church, and the A/C on to come home. Kids might find it the same way when they go to school on Tuesday. Ours start on Tuesday as well.

About ten years ago, my oldest 2 daughters visited Canada in the fall. They got to go to Niagara Falls and to some parks. They went shopping. The pictures they brought back were breathtaking. The colors for Canada's autumn leaves are so much prettier than America's in the south. I hope to one day, visit there.

So if you're looking to see our Autumn colours at their best- come about October 10 or so when they are in full swing!
