The bed is made, the dishwasher is running. I want to do a spa treatment on my hands. You know, the hot paraffin. The doctor says that will help my pain and arthritis in my hands. I forgot I turned it on yesterday, so it is nice and hot already. I need to get dressed, although I have already made breakfast for hubby. Fruit and yogurt, sprinkled with granola. I had a bowl of Cheerios, also sprinkled with a little homemade granola. People should begin showing up to stage the parade in a couple of hours. The actual parade is at 11. Hopefully this afternoon the neighbor will be able to look at mowers. Back to work tomorrow.

I have managed three treatments in two days. I used to do this all the time. My paraspa broke and I did not do it for a while. Got a new one on Amazon, but I miss the old one, it was much better.

He never showed up. We may go get one of the smaller ones fixed, as we cannot get this big one into the trailer. Or, I have a phone number to call locally.

I would love to have a hot paraffin bath on my knees, but how would I do that one? I do think I need to find my heating pad or buy a new one. It is coming time that i will need to heat these old joints up. Cold, damp weather kills my joints.

Have you ever used rice bags. You buy cheap white rice (or beans) and put them in a sock, or sew a bag of two wash cloths. Heat it in the microwave around two minutes and drape over whatever hurts. I even put a few drops of essential oil on them.

I must have written a comment and not posted it. The parade stages across the street from my house. Yes, I keep a big bag of epsom salts in the bathroom for soaking. Love to add essential oils to that.

I wonder if running some paraffin over my hip would help the arthritic pain I get in it. Hehe

There are places that are equipped for larger paraffin treatments. You could try a heated rice bag made from an old sock. Nice thing is you cannot really cause a burn with either one of them.

I am sure they did. I need to do that more often. This was last year at this time. This year we watched the parade from the front yard.

Yes, the heat penetrates and it is considered moist heat. I also like that it softens the skin on my hands.

@GardenGerty Heather, can you tell us more about the spa treatment on your hands? So, it sounded like if I am not wrong that you can make something at home and not have to go to a spa for it? If so, what do you need?

What I use is a machine that warms paraffin. The paraffin is infused with softening oils and also with essential oils that are helpful with pain. A really good machine on Amazon will cost about $80. When you go to a salon, or spa, or chiropractor, or massage therapist, you may be charged anywhere from $6 to $15 per hand, the last I knew. The paraffin is not the kind used in cooking or canning, and it does not get hot enough to cause burns.

The first time I got my Remington Spa at Wal Mart, and it came with everything. That was a good ten to fifteen years ago. It was affordable. Paraffin refills were economical. Now no one seems to carry them in store. There are several on Amazon. I bought an inexpensive one, and wish I had sprung for the one like I had before, but it is now around $100. On the other hand it came with bags, and booties and mitts to go over everything and the paraffin was infused with tea tree and lavender. I credit that for eliminating what my doctor at the time was calling carpal tunnel. It was so soothing. Amazon has quite a variety of them, but Remington is the best of what I have seen.

Sounds like a busy morning and now it is time to relax. I have never had a spa treatment on my hands. My hands probably should have one because of all the work I do in the garden all the time.

It feels good, and helps if you have pain. It also moisturizes. I bought my first paraffin spa when I learned how much salons and doctors charged for the treatment. I credit it with eliminating some long term pain the doctor was calling carpal tunnel.

@GardenGerty This is good to know. I broke my thumb really bad and my hand was operated on 3 times. I still have some issues of my thumb cramping up and when it's cold it hurts real bad.
