In India, we celebrate Teacher's day on Sept 5 in the honour of the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The first Teachers Day was celebrated in India in 1962. To celebrate his esteemed position, his students suggested that his birthday celebrated as ‘Radhakrishnan Day’.
However, he declined this move and suggested that “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ Day.”
From then on Sept 5th is celebrated as Teachers day :)
This day is celebrated in all the schools with students giving their favourite teachers chocolates, greeting cards and flowers :)

That's nice! In our country (the United States) the children usually return to school from summer vacation around that time.
