I Love A Good Jigsaw Puzzle

Doing a jigsaw puzzle was just about the only thing I found to do during my broken wrist time. The bigger the better as far as I'm concerned. I am currently working on a 2000 piece puzzle. I have 11 puzzles the smallest being 1000 pieces. I don't have a table big enough for what I need so hubby got a piece of plywood and put it on a small table I have in my dinning room. It's almost large enough to work a 3000 piece puzzle. Another thing that I could easily do while my arm was in a cast is going to yard sales. So my husband and I went to a lot of them during the summer. Some of the 11 puzzles I have were from yard sales so I'm hoping they all have all their pieces. The last yard sale we went to was a week ago and they had a huge box of jigsaw puzzles. I went through them and found one of a pile of donuts that I liked so I carried it over to pay the ladies. It was a Saturday and most people don't have yard sales on Sundays so they were getting ready to pack it up. As I was paying the 1 dollar for the puzzle the lady asked me if I enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. I told her that I did. She took my dollar and then said well take the whole box. There were about 25 puzzles in that box. I told her I couldn't take all her puzzles and she pleaded with me to take the whole box for the dollar I had just paid her. So I took the box. 13 of the puzzles plus the one I really wanted are nice puzzles. Good thick pieces. The other 11 were very thin pieces and small 300 to 500 piece puzzles. So I'm keeping the 13 and giving my great niece the others. She didn't mind they were cheaper puzzles because she knows as I complete a puzzle I give them to her. I'm please with all the puzzles I now have for the long cold winter ahead. It gives me something to do. Do you like doing jigsaw puzzles? What's the biggest one you have ever done?

It's such a good activity for the little ones. Amazing you can sit on the floor and do them with her. I have to have mine on a table. I think my sitting on the floor days are long over.

@vandana7 I have young great nieces and occasionally I sit on the floor, but that usually doesn't last to long.

I love doing jigsaw puzzles. The largest I ever done was 2000 pieces. On Sunday's people just want to get rid of stuff like this lady did. It is easier than having to pack them off to some other place. You got a great deal.

I was so pleased when I got home and took a good look at them. Now my next decision is which one to do after I'm done with the one I'm working on.

Great score! I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles, too. I don't remember how many pieces my last one had, but it took forever to complete it. My older son has one of the Constitution framed and hanging in his old room. I dust and dust, and dust it.

@fishtiger58 All his diplomas and awards, ribbons and medals, too, are here, and here they will stay. He refuses to hang any in his office or home. Kids! I certainly hope your puzzles last you through the winter.

@DianneN What's up with him not wanting his diplomas on the wall. My son said as much to me. Both his Bachelors and Master's Diplomas are in a drawer somewhere. He needs to put them on a wall somewhere.

My parents always had a puzzle going - she had the room for a big table in the living room near a window for good light. I don't have the place/space for that here. If you went to visit them the rule was you had to spend 15 minutes working on the puzzle!

I did puzzles long ago and then life got in the way and not time for them. I'm retired now so I have the time. And they have gotten more expensive since I quit doing them and started again. Yard sale puzzles however is the way to go. Much cheaper,.

Oh, I love jigsaw puzzles! The largest one I have done was around 2000 pieces. I got several from my aunt Helen's house after she passed away. She had one of those 50 gallon totes full of them. I picked out several and so did other family members. I can't wait until I can actually put one of them together.

I love puzzels, when we were young my parents had one on the go in the sun room all year, its hard to walk by without finding a few places... I often glued the finished project to paper and had frames made for some of my faovites. Sadly moving so often I sold them framed at yard sales..

Let's just say that I greatly admire people who are good with jigsaw puzzles and can actually finish them. My problem with them is that I don't see patterns very clearly, so you can imagine how much trouble I'd have with a jigsaw puzzle! Hope you enjoy your 13 new puzzles. What a find!

We enjoy puzzles and often have one on the go on our dining table. We have a special board which we can keep it on if we need to use the table. We just spend ten minutes or so each tie we pass putting in a piece or two.
