Golden Days

ash tree across the street

Here in central Kansas it is turning to fall. Just last week I looked across the street and saw a few yellow leaves on this tree. Soon there will be golden leaves all around. I am fortunate to live where there are definite seasons to enjoy. I believe this is an Ash tree. I will have to go over and look. My black walnut saplings have golden leaves as well. I can hardly wait, though for the sumac bushes to flame around the lake with scarlet and crimson leaves. Happy Fall, Y'all.

I hate hate hate fall - Lots of the 'junk' trees have lost leaves already. The red maples are just starting to turn red.

It does represent a lot of raking and composting, that is for sure.

@GardenGerty today while walking I saw that the first trees that turn are the birches and lots of the birches now have clumps of golden leaves.

Here in southern New England the trees are still green. I've noticed one in the woods beginning to turn orange. By next month, we will have the leaf peepers arrive.

The leaves here are just barely beginning to turn and I can hardly wait! Almost every day I go out and look for signs of the season changing.

We already have bright oranges and reds on some of our maples. This is mostly on trees that are close to a river where it is much colder at night.

We do not have very many maples in this area. I should get some and plant them.

I can't wait for my seasonal metamorphosis and turn into a person with short-sleeves into a person with long-sleeves, and a jacket too perhaps! Okay, fall is also nice because colors 'turn warm', alright.

Oh, I love this idea. Yes, the cooler temperatures lead to warmer colors.

Wonderful time of the year! It's Spring here. My husband had planted Claret Ash and several desidous trees on our property 17 years ago. The peppercorn is thriving, too.

The name Claret Ash sounds like a beautiful tree.
