It Didn't Work

I thought I had found a routine that would help me sleep. No TV or Computer in the late evening. Take my melatonin, drink a glass of wine and go to bed early with a good book. It worked perfectly night before last. I had a good nights sleep and woke up feeling my sleeping problem was solved. I decided to follow this routine and sleep well for the first time in months.
Well, I did the same thing last night. Got in bed with my book and read, and read, and didn't get the slightest bit sleepy. I put my book down about one o'clock, turned out the light and still lay there wide awake. Finally after two o'clock I turned on the light and picked up my book again and read until after three o'clock. I finally dosed off but kept waking up until morning, and today I'm disappointed that my sleeping problem is still unsolved.

For me, I can't seem to shut off my brain. I get to sleep just fine, but if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I start thinking about things and then it's hard to get back to sleep. I tend to lay there and keep physically relaxed as much as possible (to hopefully fall back to sleep again) - I know if I get up to do something, that's the end of sleep for me.

Sorry to hear that you're still having problems sleeping. I'm sure you're tired today after being unable to sleep well last night
