It Didn't Work

I thought I had found a routine that would help me sleep. No TV or Computer in the late evening. Take my melatonin, drink a glass of wine and go to bed early with a good book. It worked perfectly night before last. I had a good nights sleep and woke up feeling my sleeping problem was solved. I decided to follow this routine and sleep well for the first time in months. Well, I did the same thing last night. Got in bed with my book and read, and read, and didn't get the slightest bit sleepy. I put my book down about one o'clock, turned out the light and still lay there wide awake. Finally after two o'clock I turned on the light and picked up my book again and read until after three o'clock. I finally dosed off but kept waking up until morning, and today I'm disappointed that my sleeping problem is still unsolved.

For me, I can't seem to shut off my brain. I get to sleep just fine, but if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I start thinking about things and then it's hard to get back to sleep. I tend to lay there and keep physically relaxed as much as possible (to hopefully fall back to sleep again) - I know if I get up to do something, that's the end of sleep for me.

@RubyHawk I've had some tossing and turning kind of nights. I sleep, end up waking up, fall back to sleep and start it all over again. It's annoying.

That's what I've done. I never get up after I go to bed even when I'm not sleeping.I lay there and meditate and nap a little.

I wonder what is the problem ? I have found that not eating after 6p.m. and having a warm cup of milo before bed, helps me sleep through the night uninterrupted.

What is milo? Sometimes I drink hot chocolate.

Have you tried using 100% lavender essential oil lamp in your bedroom? Or put a drop or 2 drops of lavender oil under your nose and try to sleep.

@thelme55 I'll check with my pharmacist. Is it just the scent that's helps you sleep?

Yes, I think I get enough exercise. As luck would have it I slept a little better last night so I suppose I'll have to take it as it comes. This is Thursday.

Take long walks to relax the mind daily might help? If I have something to worry me about, I won't be able to sleep.

Everything runs throughout my mind but I meditate to stop that. I walk but not every day.
