Hurricane Irma seems to be on a direct path to move straight up the middle of Florida. Prayers for everyone in Florida. I know lots of people are evacuating the lower half of Florida but from what the news is saying, everyone in Florida is going to be affected by this storm. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and yours. Be safe and evacuate if you can.

I phoned my sister in law who lives in Ocala yesterday, they are staying in their home, she said the highways are choking with people trying to get north.

@PainsOnSlate the news showed massive gridlock coming out of Florida on 95. I would not have wanted to be stuck in that traffic.

@PainsOnSlate Those we know who decided to stay in Ocala and Tampa are happy they did. Others we know were stranded on the road b/c there was no gas. We were told today some places are beginning to have a bit of fuel available.

@LadyDuck I know a few people who live in Florida and I worry about them. I love Florida. If I had my way, I would have been living there years ago.

@LadyDuck I so wanted to move to the Gulf Coast along the Emerald Isle portion. Oh but a dream.

I'm with you on that. If only Irma would lose momentum before she hits land in Florida, she's already caused enough devastation to those small islands.

@rebelann Yes she was one treacherous hurricane. I hope we don't have any more. I will be glad when the season is over.

@rebelann Irma only slowed down a little bit. I guess being a 4 is better than hitting landfall at a 5 though.

The last reports I heard they'd classified her as a 2 but by that time she was heading into Georgia @Shellyann36 that was one really treacherous Hurricane.

Yes, everyone in Florida seemed to suffer, some much more than others of course. It will be years before the mess is cleaned up enough for people to feel like it didn't happen @Shellyann36

@PatZAnthony I really feel sorry for everyone in Texas, Florida and especially Puerto Rico. This hurricane season has been bad and I hope that it is soon to be over with.

@PatZAnthony Glad, you are able to go down and help. If Florida is that bad, I hate to think about Puerto Rico!

@Shellyann36 It is a mess. We are in Florida helping with the mess, and it just seems to get messier as time goes on.

@ridingbet No, they don't take the financial aid for themselves. However, we have plenty that get their palms greased by big corporations who want things voted this way or that.

@ridingbet I am happy to hear that so much money is being raised to help rebuild both Texas and Florida. I hope that it all continues.

@Shellyann36 i believe the government there has no politicians who take away the financial aid for their own pockets.

It's amazing to think people actually have to travel to another state to get any kind of safety.

@shaggin this is so true. Wildfires are covering California I believe. Floods in many places and fires in others.

@Shellyann36 but i also saw on FB the resiliency of some Floridians, like "somebody gave ma a gift from the hurricane, and i don't even own a trampoline". that was amusing.
