When the Going Gets Tough

Winston Salem, North Carolina
September 10, 2017 3:41pm CST
It’s been a difficult couple of weeks (months?) for our household, but watching the news reminds us that there are tons of people that are dealing with more difficult circumstances than we are. We are praying for those still suffering from Harvey, for those dealing with the fires out west and for those facing Irma and the destruction that she is leaving in her wake.

Yeah, just when the going gets tough we see someone else whose gettin it worse, we is lucky. Yeah, I too am praying for everyone, At least Irma has dropped to a category 2, but from what I hear that is still dangerous.

It's still a HUGE storm, and hurricanes tend to spawn lots of tornadoes....

This is true, I do not dare to complain, if I look around many people are suffering and I consider we are lucky in our corner of the world.

@Platespinner No recent deaths in our family in the last 4 months, nothing too bad happened. We can say we have been lucky.

It's been rough around her, but at least we're not worrying about fires, flooding or having our roof blow off.

No, ma'am, Harvey did the most damage in Texas. We live about 1800 km away.

Mother Nature seems to really have it in for the country at the moment.

Seeing what other people are dealing with makes me grateful for the blessings I have. Tends to bring things back into perspective

Whenever I start down the "Oh woe is me" trail, I try to take a minute to consider how much worse things really could be.

It is so true. Sometimes I complain here about the weather cooling off - however such complaints seem selfish at such a time

Personally I'm glad it's cooling off. Summer was pretty brutal.

That's right, we all need to be mindful that there are always others who are worse off then we are. Prayers and thoughts go out to those dealing with the storms, both rain, wind as well as fire.

We're not out of the woods yet. Hurricane season isn't over yet. Better tie yourself to a brick, Emmett.

I think anchoring myself to the Rock is a safer bet.
