Life is Hard!

We all know how difficult life can be! It can throw you in a slew of problems and sufferings... financially, emotionally, and even physically. My dilemma right now: I work very hard at my job, I struggle everyday just to make sure that I am impressing my boss so that I can make it to the next day in hopes of gaining a management position and making more money. I am paid way too low to fend for myself in this expensive world we live in, I am always at bare minimum with trying to get an apartment, always at bare minimum with being able to afford groceries, and always at bare minimum with being able to do much of anything extra, like going out to eat or any such leisure activity. I want to be able to get my own apartment. I am currently paying my brother rent to live with him, but I'm paying him double right now in order to compensate for a couple of months in the beginning of our move that I had fallen short on. I feel myself straining at this point.. I could fly high with a great future at this company if I can only have the means to proceed.. but I feel like I will be living like a pilgrim for few years until that happens. I've sat down and talked to my boss about what I would like to do, and he welcomes the opportunity "If I can handle it"... but his expectations are wearing me thin and seem impossible to reach. I've thought about other jobs, but I know that if I can't even handle this job, I will struggle even more with any other job that pays more. They seem to pay more for a reason... (high turnover rates, inability to keep employees, overly high expectations, etc.). I leave this discussion open as an opportunity to vent! What are you facing right now that has you in a period of hardship or aggravation?

Been there, done that before, luckily at that point in my life I was living with my parents and didn't pay rent.. now it's a lot different and I would never run that risk haha

It's tough, I'm just searching for a way out of this box I'm forced in right now, I want to thrive and get to live my life comfortably sooner or later... As a single guy without kids, I don't really need much other than to knock these few obstacles out of the way and be able to eat and occasionally do things once in a while.

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so, it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes." There are many obstacles in life's path and even more reasons to doubt yourself. It is human nature to dwell on the negative points of life more than the positive. The reason being that we tend to be dumbed down by or circumstances letting or fears run over our better judgement. We know right from wrong yet we still do most of the wrong things. Fear is a powerful adversary that works with the Ego. Combined they have no limits as to how far down in life that they can take you if you let them. How they are relevant to a relationship/job is by the mentality that you will take on not just at the beginning but also throughout the duration of its life span. There must be both physical and mental attraction to stimulate the brains endorphin's. Thus, flooding the mind with dreams and their desires. It is through those desires that a purpose is formed on how to obtain the object of your desire. Making you happy because it gives you new meaning to your life. Although the most important part of life is often overlooked in this time. That is why when you do achieve your goal of your desire it's not as spectacular as you would have hoped it to be. Because material goods of this world can never take the place of love. The real joy in life is the journey that got you to where you are. They are your memories and people that you met along the way to achieving your goals that matter. The most trivial things in life are what brings the most joy to us. Most of all it's the people that we share our lives with that fulfill our lives with true happiness. Something so simple as a friend bringing you chicken soup when your sick can overcome the feeling of misery and help heal any wounds both physically and mentally. It is when we share laughter with another person that we connect and start to build a bond. Laughter really is the best remedy. “A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.” “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” A word of caution if I may. Do not let your fears be your guide in life. Let them serve as caution, to do your due diligence; so that you can make informed decisions for your life. Expect that there will be failures throughout your choices in life. Do not Succumb to your failures. Let them serve as lessons to you, instead of a definition of your character. Take from them the wisdom of application for any future choices you make. You, and you alone are the only one that can change your course in life by the decisions that you choose to make. “Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind." You cannot stop learning, only stop wanting to learn. As every day brings with it new encounters with people, opportunities, objects and ideas that were not present the day before. As Henry Ford once stated, "If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right.". You are not dumb!!!!!!! Stop letting other people define you. Definition: a statement of the exact meaning of a word, especially in a dictionary. Stop the water cooler gossip at work as it is only negative connotations, that you are allowing, your mind to take on. I'm underpaid, I'm overworked, I'm not smart enough and so on. As these are message that you are sending to our brain to define you. Spend enough time saying them and you will begin to believe them. When you speak with a co-worker think about where your conversations often lead. I am willing to say that there are negative connotations in your statements. This applies to conversations that occur with everyone you speak with through your life. You must do your due diligence when speaking with others and more so with your own thoughts. Yes, I am speaking of discipline. Think before you speak. Even the most trivial conversation has an impact on your life. Remember that the very building blocks of moral and ethical values come from your interactions with the people around you. As I aforementioned, you cannot stop learning, only stop wanting to learn. You have at your fingertips a vast amount of knowledge to resource at any given time. There is a very bad misnomer that has been tough that goes as follows: Knowledge is Power. This is very damaging to young minds. By its cunning nature. Yes, the children of today's youth are vastly smarter than their predecessors. However, it gives them a false sense of dominance over their predecessors. Thus, the tense unrest in the homes. Knowledge is only useful when you have the wisdom of application in which to apply it to your life. Our school systems are failing our youth because they are not teaching meta-cognition in the development stages of our youth. This leaves too many children handicapped throughout the rest of their lives. Although there are many other factors that plague our learning facilities/faculties, this is the gravest of all. If you are still reading this narrative, I would hope that you can see the correlations herein. So as not to boar you any longer I will end with this. Sometimes you ask yourself why your life is so hard to deal with and what is the point. Each time the answer is the same. To compare your life to a single moment in time is to doubt your very existence. Because your life is more than a moment could ever hold. Your life consists of smiles, frowns, anger, compassion and love not to mention hope. So, when you say your life is not worth the time, stop and think; If I were not here I would not have brought a smile to someone’s face, I would not have the pleasure of pissing off the people I hate; But most of all I would not have been here to read my newfound friend's letter. So, each time you think your life is worthless just read this letter and remember; If my life was worthless then I would not have a letter to read. Someone took a few minutes out of their life to think of me. So, the moral of this letter is, do not compare your life to a single moment in time because you will have missed this moment that I have given you from my life! Do your due diligence in all your life's choices!!! Do not define yourself by your failures, as they are only moments in time!!! When you think in terms of value, ask yourself what am I willing to provide in services for that which I am asking. AKA, The Law of Equivalent Exchange!!! Take the time to see the value in the services of others, be it a, relationship, a friendship, a co-worker, or a total stranger!!! Best wishes to all!!!!!!

I'm so sorry, Chris. I know my virtual hug won't do much, but... I haven't had the chance to join the real world adversities yet. However, doing nothing for nothing isn't good either. The situation might change in the near future, looking forward it, no matter what. The "world of work" will always be about exploitation, sad truth. I'll be fine with leading a simple life and depend on money as little as I can. I really wish you to become independent someday, I think you deserve it. Try to focus on the brightside whenever you can, in the meanwhile.

It's just irritating, because I'm doing everything I can to be independent, but it just isn't happening for me. I'm stuck, which sucks because I'm not doing anything that an adult man doesn't do to insure a bright future. I'm an adult, being responsible, only to be held back like a child

@Mr_Anomaly That must be a common situation all over the world, it's something we can't really accept, it's shameful. Be patient and never give up. Please. I don't know how many people support your work, but a crowdfunding campaign could be a thing. Just keep in mind you are not alone.

@sabtraversa Don't plan on giving up! Just gotta push through to the end! And good luck to your boyfriend, hopefully he gets that job and does well! I will keep the crowdfunding idea in mind if I can figure out a good way to go about it

I am happy in a way that the rat race is over for me as I am retired though with modest income. I never went after big rewards as I wanted peace of mind. I cut corners wherever I could and managed to save almost every year of my working life stretching forty years. I wish you luck and hope you find balance and peace of mind like what I opted for - siva

@Shiva49 , you had that wise decision in the past that you harvested this time to let money work for you not you to work hard anymore for the money.To save for the rainy days is so important for old age especially if live too long.

I feel, what you feel.Life is so hard this time.We need to survive and strive more for the better.Why not have other jobs, two jobs, three jobs.Also, to be promoted, you need to enroll additional course to compete with the world at least few months technical course.I am so sorry about the situation you have now.That is only temporary.That is life we have to fight for as long as we live. There is also hope, just pray so hard.God never fails.
