Our Damage was Minimal

We are among the lucky ones in the state of Florida. While we did lose a few branches off of our huge tree in the front yard, the only damage is some ceiling damage in our living room. The place in the roof where the main roof meets the porch roof appears to be the issue. I think that the volume of rain just caused the issue. Hopefully, it will dry and be fine and we will check it when we get there in January. We lost electricity but not for long enough to cause the food in our freezer to thaw so that is also good news. I hope all of our fellow mylotters fared as well.

@BelleStarr That's nothing compared to what it could have been. I truly didn't think we'd have a place to return to.

Yes, we have a home in Ocala we bought 4 years ago. This way we can escape the cold for a few months.

It is a blessing isn't it, I was concerned for some members since they were in harder hit areas than my home.

So glad to hear that, we couldn't get in touch with my SIL but finally heard she was fine too - no flooding, no trees down...Happy it was over.

Yes it was pretty bad over night I guess but our family all came through with minor damage. The worst hit I think was our niece in Charleston.

That is great news. It sounds very minor, thankfully. Did you go and check on your place or did you have someone else do that for you? We've had much smaller storms over the years in our area and gone 12 hours (during the summertime) without power. At that stage you have to throw out any food in your fridge, our freezer was fine, but not our fridge.

My brother in law checked it for us, it would take us days to drive down there with flights not running in many areas. We are lucky to have family nearby the house who can check for us. We were very relieved to have just minimal damage. Thanks.

I too was lucky and my house is still standing with minimal damage. I lost shingles but that is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things

This has been a horrible hurricane season so far and it is only starting. Between Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria it has been quite a nightmare for so many people.
