Welcome to myLot, William! I agree that technology is isolating us and breaking apart relationships even as it claims to improve communication. It's so sad to see a family out to dinner and they are all looking at their phones instead of at each other. My DIL and little granddaughter were in a car accident a few months ago because some jerk was looking at her phone instead of the traffic. My granddaughter is 3 1/2 and still talks about the accident, still has bad dreams about it. People don't realize they are becoming slaves to technology. We have an entire generation growing up that have no person to person social skills at all! If they lost their phones they would probably have emotional and mental breakdowns. I'm convinced that this was all planned as a way to break down society, because it's doing such a good job. I refuse to have a smart phone and I try to limit my computer time!

Well I dont think its a problem of using technology I believe its more of depending on it then depending what we was taught when we was young are social skills. I believe alot of people believe this is the safe way of doing things without getting hurt or complications,

@William21001 Yes, safety is now the number one concern. When did we get like this?! We used to admire daredevils like Evel Knievel, astronauts, stunt drivers and stunt pilots and now most of society shudders and says they must be crazy about people who take chances. Society is so paranoid that people actually carry hand sanitizer everywhere and refuse to touch door handles. We have become the Safe Society, cringing like worms when we hear of people taking chances, putting themselves in danger, or daring to expose themselves to a germ. What a sad state we have driven ourselves to.

I believe a lot of people use this to not meet up with people face to face they feel more comfortable doing things this way.

I agree, I hate seeing families at a restaurant or out and about and their face is in a phone and not enjoying each others company. I also hated to go out with one friend that could not live without her phone and was checking it all the time. I don't have one and the only reason I have thought of getting one is for the money making apps. But then Id have to make up and above the cost of keeping it on. lol Welcome to mylot, hope you enjoy it was much as I have.

Technology is great, constant texting, the facebook saga and other online apps I think are steering people away from actually interacting with others. Nothing irritates me more than having a fun outting or visiting with a person and they have to constantly check their phone. What's going to happen? Really? Someone post a new post that they blew their nose?

@sugartoes what's worse is people don't think about what they are posting. All those selfies in the bathroom with you pumping out your chest? Apply for a new job and see how far that view gets you. Employers look at facebook, twitter, youtube, my space all those social apps.

@sugartoes I had a co-worker say she bought a car and financed it. Company we work for must have some kind of notification system when a person has a credit change, because she found out after she purchased her car, the company we work for did a credit check on her. I think that's wrong.

The little effort that it takes to walk to the next room to talk with someone may be the best moment of a persons life.

It is only the people who use it the wrong way. It was designed for people from West to East and not from next room to each other.

Yes, new technology does have its setbacks, especially smart phones. It's sad to see people staring at their screens and ignoring their family and friends.
