Before participating on this discussion I want you to watch the trailer of the movie "Downsizing" starring Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig. It is a movie that shows a possible future solution to over population. On the Trailer Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig plays the role of a couple who are middle class. They saw a commercial on TV about a medical procedure that can give them the lifestyle of Billionaires. That procedure is downsizing, They will be Shrink to the size of Chelsea dolls (Barbie's little sister) With that the food they buy can be used for a longer period. Let's say it will take you a year to finish a bottle of Vodka. You will be able to afford living in a mansion because being doll sized can make you live inside a doll house. With your small size you can own mountains and lakes that felt like the real thing. The movie seemed to look happy and pure sunshine but I have a bad feeling in real life it can be scary. What if a regular sized cat or a dog finds your miniature village? Would you agree to Shrink to the size of a Chelsea Doll if that means you can live like a King? Are you willing to take this risk if it means comfortable and wealthy life with your family? Imagine the risk of a regular sized cockroach entering your house...
A big world is waiting. Watch the new trailer for #Downsizing, directed by Alexander Payne and starring Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, and Kristen W...

I would like to see this movie for sure. I will not want to shrink however..it would be very dangerous.

The picture is an actual size of a Chelsea doll. Being that small gave me the feeling that we can be killed by a common rat. I might consider it if it's not permanent but the one in the movie is permanent.

Ha - that movie looks interesting but before I even look at it I know what I won't do - and that is to shrink - I would feel too vulnerable. Let me struggle along just the way I am.

Imagine a cute puppy can be a huge threat to your life. Even if the facility is animal proof, it can be creepy. Also in the movie it is said to be irreversible. Not being able to grow again means there is no coming back if you end up in regret.

That's something I've been thinking of A LOT when I was a kid. I had the Polly Pocket doll, I kept her in a box, used some toilet tissue as bed and sheets and thought she would feel stuffed if she ate a crumble of bread I had. It's better to have a "giant" you can trust, someone who can protect you. I mean, you would have to be the pet of a normal sized human. Cooking wouldn't be an issue, there are several videos on Facebook where miniature food is cooked with miniature equipment and furniture.

My biggest worry would be animals. Imagine if carnivorous insects like hornets finds the doll village. Who needs chicken and Turkey if a roasted quail is enough to feed the whole village. Who needs tiuna if you can have fresh anchovies. A single cherry can feed a whole family.

@sabtraversa Humans can be abusive to pets. Imagine if you found out that the human who will take care of the mini village is Bieber. Remember his history with his pets.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes, we would have to deal with DINOSAURS. Hunting quails and picking cherries can also be challenging, so it's always better to have a normal sized human we could define as "The Giant Lord" that takes care of us tiny creatures.

Some movies leave us hanging, as to what they're really about.

Yup people who agreed to shrink themselves so their money can cost more. Would you agree to shrink the size of a Barbie doll's little sister, if it means you can live like a queen?

@CaptAlbertWhisker Nope, very unlikely.
