As I said about two weeks ago (August 29th) that I have been approved for Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The document was signed by a judge the day beofre. When I got the approval letter I called SS to insure I was reading it correctly and I was then told that I said be getting a letter saying that I need to come to a meeting for them to find out what my rent is and do give them my bank information for the direct deposit. But I was also welcome to call and go by my local SS office. Two more days went by and I called my local office. I was told that the judge had signed it on the 23rd rather then the 28th and that I was welcome to come by the office. So the two weeks time was almost up to get the letter and I had not got it yet. I went to the office and asked for my ID , then was told the opposite, that I could not speak to anyone about the issue, that I had been sent a letter on the 8th saying that my meeting was on the 19th. Then the woman asked for my ID again before handing me a copy of the letter, saying that she could not hand it to me unless she saw my ID again! Huh? Then when I got to a place in the light where I could remove my sunglasses and see to read the letter it did not say the 19th, it said the 18th. And that if I did not come my SSD and SSI would be cancelled! That was on Tuesday and when I finally got home my mom had got the mail and she said the letter had not come in the mail. It still did not come Wednesday or Thursday either. Then on Friday I had taken a large envelope in it from SS and I was thinking, "Oh good, I get the letter for an appointment on Monday morning on Friday afternoon!" Then I opened it to see that it was for a meeting on the 22nd So, I looked at the date it was written and it was on the 12th, the day I was at the office. When I was there in the office it was around 2:15 PM and they close at 4:00 PM. So if that was the actual letter for me it would of been in the computer then! So I called the SS 800 number and they said they only saw my appointment for the 18th on my records.

I'm so sorry. It's all difficult. I'm surprised you were approved for SSI. I know peoplewho are disabled and desperately need it, have tried But weren't approved.

Why are you surprised? I am disabled and desperately need it to. I am basically homeless, staying at my mom and uncles. No space for me to have use of what little stuff I have or privacy. I lost 95% of my belongings over a year ago. I have not had any medical coverage for about 3 years now. Not eating properly, taking the proper meds, sleeping or resting correctly. Live over a mile from any transportation. It has been over five years since I have worked. I do not understand why you are thinking that I do not deserve it.

@RubyHawk I am sorry for your relative. Has he started getting disability yet or approved for it?

You misunderstood. I didn't say you don't deserve it. I'm sure you do but a relative of mine is in the same situation you are and has applied for his but He hasn't gotten SSI yet. He's in a desperate situation. I'm very happy for you. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I wish you the very best. . @dfollin

Sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I hope you get everything straightened out.
