Today will be a good one

Sunday morning started off well at 6:30 AM, with clouds starting to form. The sun began shining though, even with clouds building in the distance. Westerly breezes had dispersed the smoke that fouled our air again for the last two days. I was able to do my fitness walk (nearly 3 miles today) in unusually cool, breezy weather. I was glad I threw on a sweatshirt over my t shirt. Anne had a great spinach omelet with a little ham and onion ready to cook when I got home and it was delicious. So I cleaned up the kitchen and decided to soak some red, black and pinto beans and a little baking soda to make chili with tomorrow. I hope your weekend has been a good one too. Note: That Ken Burns Vietnam documentary starts tonight on NPR. Rain should begin later this afternoon and will be a major help with numerous forest fires over the next few days. I hope there is no lightning to start new ones. If I am going to continue these long fitness walks, I need some rain gear, so may look at our local store for something called Frog Toggs that I heard about. They are supposed to be warm and waterproof. I hope

I just had to look up Frog Toggs. Looks like some great gear, and hopefully something that will work out well for you on your walks. Really hoping you get some rain to help with those wildfires.

@JamesHxstatic You mean Frog Toggs doesn't have icy weather gear too? Like special boots with spikes in them for walking on ice?

Yes, they will be great for continuing my walks in the winter which I plan to do except when it is icy.

@moffittjc I could probably get something like that, but my motivation goes down at 32 degrees.

This month of September is cooler than usual. We are still in Summer, at least until the 22nd of the month, but the chilly air of the morning announces a pretty cold Autumn.

@JamesHxstatic They are eating plenty of seeds and they seem very busy building their nests.

The way the birds are eating my seed, I wonder if we will have a colder one too.

@JamesHxstatic - So glad you got your walk in. It was beautiful today here in So Cal, too. Highs in the mid 70s. Chance of showers. Perfect!

That sounds very nice! We had some off and on rain, but a downpour is expected and hoped for.

I hope you are getting the rain you so desperately need. I walk with an umbrella and boots when it rains, unless it's a downpour.

This stuff I bought will withstand a downpour. I may get to try it out tomorrow. We finally got a good downpour today.

It's a bit windy here today but we are supposed to get rain every day this week. We broke a record for the most days with any rain in a row. The old record was set in 1917. It was 72 days without rain. We just passed 80 days without rain. I am ready to watch Ken Burns Vietnam War documentary tonight. I will be watching all the episodes this week but will probably miss some next week but I'll catch up with the reruns.

They did not cost that much and are breathable and waterproof. Jacket and pants were $40.

Chili sounds good. Beans aren't really in my diet any longer but I've never made chili without them. I'll have to research Texas-style chili which is meat-only.

Good for you Scott, I have been at it since mid-June, 2.5 to 3 per day, except on those really smoky days.
